the dealer I work for had the dealer key cutter that you use the codes and set the levers and it cuts a key per vin. Well the parts manager gave me a huge tote full of key blanks, tumblers kits, and such along with the old cutter.

Just no code book or vin number sheet.

Is there a website I can subscribe to that would have the codes?

Id love to set up shop and be able to cut vintage MoPar key with some of my NOS key blanks.

So your chances of finding a way to match VINs to keys are not good.

They'll have factory Chrysler/Curtis code books from the 50's on up, generally under $100 new and used



And there's always Ebay...

I don't think they have a book that matches to the VIN number. They match to the number that is stamped on the lock itself. I've got one of those cutter and the book that you are looking for. It takes the number stamped on the lock and translates it to the correct depth of cut for each position on the key. I would go buy some new blanks to practice on. Those NOS originals are too valuable to waste.

I have a couple Cuda locks I can practice on. It was just something I was considering to do to help some of us old car guys out.


I know I can call a dealer with the old set up, my shop only has the new double sided key and codes available. The single sided keys are harder to find the info on.

I just hate calling another shop for something if I can get it myself.

Ill try the codes on the lock cylinders first.

To cut the keys with the cutter, there was tags that came with the cars when new.There was a tag for the ignition,door and one for the trunk and glovebox. You copied the numbers off the tags and kept the numbers in a safe place and disposed the tags. If you had to get keys cut, you gave these numbers to the dealer and they would cross reference in the key book for the code to cut the key.I know because I did it.

Is the cutter still sharp? They get dull over time. I agree that if the dealer didn`t write the codes down from the tags and put it on their paperwork the owner was SOL. Unless of course the owner kept the key ring tags.

Its sharp as I just went through it and sharpened it on a buddies surface grinder.

I'm curious, do you have the #14 Curtiss with the big wheel or the #15 that has the cross slide?
