For those of you who replaced the gaskets or weather stripping on your E-body convertible tops, who is the best or most accurate company out there? My father picked up a set and the rear most gasket where the angled part of the quarter glass meets the top does not fit in place at all. The gasket is way too narrow. Dad called the company (forget which company it was) and complained and they said that someone must have repalced the gaskets at one time. When we pulled the originals off, they still had the stamped on part number and even had a molded in number into the rubber. So we know for a fact it is an original part.

Any help would be appreciated as this is holding up me from getting the windows alligned since we just had the new top put on.

thanks,

Brian

I don't know I have had the year one stuff in the box since 96-97 unused. All I did was take it out install it with out glue to make sure it was what I needed and put it away. It sure looked like the ones I pulled off. think it was soaft seal. I looked in the box and thats what it says. But I never had the roof in the car or glass next to it. But suire looked ok to me as far as fit where the pieces touch together when the roof is 100% up {ie] no gaps
If I ever sell that car it will take 3-4 trucks to hall the boxes and car away Makes me wonder how many parts are on a car

IMO the sof-seal conv kit is kind of a joke - in their attempt to offer a product that resembles OE they failed. The are many physical differences and the seals are not identical to OE. I called a few months back to complain that the front frame header seal was shorter than the original. Didn't get anywhere with the gal on the phone. Also the side seals aren't as thick as the originals and so there's a definite gap as the window's travel upwards is limited and the 1/4 windows too. Either try to get a refund or ask to send back for another kit in case the one kit they sent you may have been mixed parts or non e body seals mixed in? the original seals have a chrysler pentastar and part numbers stamped in ink and trust that your's are originals and not some fast talking salesman at sof-seal.

I haven't seen anything that even comes close, all of it is a bit on the "generic" side. However....I do know of a complet set that's used original in mint shape if you are on the hunt

So does anyone make a real kit that works?
Maybe I should take mine out and take pics and post them of the seals? If needed let me know. I do not have anything to compair them to though.
I wonder if the ones that I have will be a problem when i go to use them
