I'm looking at my stash of jacks and I know where some of them came from but that does not always mean the are OEM to that car. Looking at my 69-71 parts book, they list the same part number for all, except the charger. My question is the length of the post. I have b,c and a charger jack or two. I know the charger jacks but the lengths are throwing me. Does anyone have the lengths listed of the post for each body ?

hi,

as with many original parts there was a margin of acceptance, so understand there isnt going to be 1 correct answer

here is what i have found in original cars:
(t-type if not noted tube)

67-9 Cuda Jack Mast Length 33-1/2”
68-70 Charger Jack Mast Length 36” (2 CHECKED OUT AT 36”)
Superbird 34-3/4”
70 Challenger 34-5/8”
70 Cuda Tube 35”
66 Satellite Tube 34-1/2”

i hope to have my new t-type jack assemblies available by winter

So if the T post was mostly from Hamtramck/Lynch Rd, how many vendors would there have been? I don't see why there would be a consistent 1/2" difference between a 70 Cuda/Chally.

Also, are all the posts you guys see a little "rounded" on the ends (teeth side)? I always assumed this is from use, but have you guys seen any non-restored ones that are completely square on the end? Maybe it was shaped this way from the process of cutting long stock?

Here are my jacks with known application with 99% certainty

68 Coronet 4 dr. 33 11/16" black
68,69,and 70 Chargers all 36 1/8" and Grey
69 NYer 34 5/8 grey
68 Fury III 34 5/8 grey

My probables are
68 Coronet 2 dr. 33 5/8 black

My unknowns are

2@ 34 5/8 one black one grey
36 7/8 black
33 11/16" black
38 1/4 heavy duty post blue

I have two AAR with no jacks so that is where this is going.

A customer needs a jack for a 70 Challenger so I started looking at mine. It's an early build so I figured on the t post.

My 70 Satelite St Louis car has a 35 1/4" tube style.

So if I Cuda hear from some Cuda owners with jacks, I think I'd be able to call this. Looks like most b and e's are in the 33.5 to 34.5 range.

Hmm I would have thought they were 33 1/2". Maybe because the bumpers are smaller and higher off the ground. And these are t post not tube, correct?

Are Challengers the same lengths as cudas?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, thanks. I was just clarifying that both your cuda jacks were t post that were 35 1/4 long. I don't have any that long that are t post. Except one really long one.

Well after posting on three sites, I think I found out a few things. I was surprised I got no responses from the A12 board. I think those jacks are 33 1/2", though.
Most 70 ebody jacks are the post type but there are exceptions. I have determined that one of my jacks I just picked up in a big parts trade is in fact, either from a 70 Cuda or a 70 Challenger. He had a Cuda since high school and the hook I got with it matched in color with the Cuda part number. I can't help but believe the Challenger uses the same length mast. There is a good informative post on for e bodies only with a mostly accurate chart about jacks. In short, I believe e body jacks are longer than B body jacks. So the 34.5 to 35 seems like an acceptable length. That is the same length and style of jack that I have confirmation that came out of two c bodies I am certain of the origin. Dates are too early but I have found that not all jacks have dates on them.

Jack masts from 1968 or so back typically do not have date codes.

That is what I have found on my known 68 jacks.

They are stamped on the side of the jacking mechanism. I don’t have any pictures but a typical code would be K 9 meaning dec of 69.
