Which bracket is correct for mounting the radio to the dash? Are both required? I thought the only bracket was the thin metal support/brace (2nd photo); then I saw the one in the top picture for sale. The description states: "This is an original OEM radio bracket for a 70 71 72 73 74 Cuda, Barracuda or a Challenger. This is what attaches the radio to the dash frame." Thanks.

My 70 AM 8 Track uses the second one.

The top one looks like the bracket that supports the wiring up the steering column.

What an idiot I am!! Of couse; it's the bracket for mounting the steering column to the underside of the dash (which also supports the column's wiring). I guess because the photo shows it sideways, I didn't recognize it. Looking at it now that I know what it is, it's quite obvious. Thanks for the clarification.

The E body radio mounting bracket for AM, AM FM, and AM 8-Track is the same. As mentioned before, the other thing is for mounting the steering column

Is the arm bracket the only thing that holds radio in place? When testing radio while dash was out of my car the radio would move while inserting a tape and I was thinking that radio should be mounted at some other point as well.

8 track is being repaired by Barry's and I'd like to be ready to install once it arrives.

Thanks

The bracket supports the body of the radio. There are two 3/8 head hex bolts that hold the front of the radio to the dash frame. If you have your trim installed, there are cutouts in the trim to clear the bolts.
When installing, make sure you get the speaker and power wires connected while it is close but not bolted down yet. You will have to drop it again and wire it if you do not. There is not a lot of slack in the harness wiring.

Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to help. Can't wait to get it installed and playing. It's been one of the "Can't wait to get that done" items ever since the beginning.
