Just bought a new 2017 Ram Mega Cab 4x4 and thinking of getting a levaling kit installed. What is the best kit? Also what should I expect to pay for that?

I personally don't understand why anyone would want a leveling kit, I think they make the trucks look odd. Besides, I do lots of towing with heavy trailers and leveling kits don't help with that at all. All the leveling kits I have seen on trucks always make the front end taller than the rear, so why do they even call it a leveling kit? shruggy

Let's see: Yes. Yes. And, Yes.

Thank-you Rhino. up Great way to eff-up a sixty five thousand dollar truck is to put that "leveling" horse-$hit on. laugh

People level their trucks so they don't tear off the front air dam when crossing a creek and so they can add A/T tires and change the stance so it does not look like and old man's truck. Plenty of good reasons to level a truck. Now to answers the OP's question see if the Bilstein 5100 series has something for you. SDTrucksprings is a good source.

Put a trailer behind it and it will look just fine and drive better.

btw... you'll need tires in 20K smile

Thanks DFS! Appreciate the info. And J, my new one will see plenty of trailer time thumbs not looking to put a lift kit just pick the front up to clear a couple rivers where we go shooting.

I don't like the leveling kits. Seems everyone who does them will never realign their headlights and they shine up and so bright after, it causes them to drive with the fog lights on as well since now they can't see, so I flash them and they give me the brights on top of the fogs. Oh well. I don't understand why anyone would do this. My 2wd trucks and muscle cars have always had a rake to them, it just looks better that way. Even if I had a 4x4 truck like this I couldn't do it, there's just no way..

Over the last 2 years, I've dealt with having a terrible ride quality with my 3500. I fully understand it's a 1 ton meant for towing, but I've had enough with it. I originally bought the 1 ton because of the Aisin and I didn't like the idea of the coil system in the rear of the 2500. It's been a great truck and I don't want to get rid of it. It pulls our toy hauler with ease. My toy hauler is a 2015 Attitude 28ibg with about 1,100 pounds of tongue weight. Throw a 4 wheeler in the bed with other gear and I might be hauling 2,000 on the rear of the truck.

I started researching lift kits/level kits and found so many of them have softer front coils. I've always had good luck with Bilstein and found their 2" leveling kit, 25-240405 at Summit Racing for $470. I also ordered Bilstein 33-238555 rear shocks to match the front kit for $214. While researching leveling kits, I noticed Carli had a rear add a pack leaf spring kit, CS-DPAP-03-D, for $400 at CJC Off-road. It is a 5 leaf pack that replaces the 1" thick bottom spring in the stock pack, and raises the rear of the truck 1". Summit and CJC were great and shipped everything within 2 days. I recommend them.

With everything ordered, I went to tirerack for some new rubber. I decided to go with General Gabber X3's in 35x12.50 R18. I didn't want to go too big but wanted a little extra side wall to help with the ride. The tires were $258 a piece and 4wheelparts mounted them, with road hazard, for $250.

Total I'm about $2600 into it and I must say I am very pleased. It took me about 3 hours to install both the front and rear kits. The truck is much more controlled on sharp bumps and has a little more cushioning in the bigger bumps. It is like a soft 2500. I set the tires at 45f/40r and it still feels tight. The tires have a slight hum at highway speeds but are no way overwhelming. With the trailer attached, I noted 1 1/4" drop at the rear wheels.

I must say that I personally think the truck looks better, and is more usable too. The added tire size and aggressive tread really help when off road. I pull my trailer into some very remote locations and I have a little more peace of mind with it.

For what its worth... Mike

That's what I'm talking about right there MoparMike. Looks and sounds like you hit a homer. There are products and methods on the market that no doubt are destructive and cause harshness and vibration. But with a lot of research, asking around and using some good horse sense a person can make their factory ride what they want without compromise. So far with six months and 3000 miles on my set up it's all good.
BTW with Bilstein shocks at the corners, two inch leveling in the front, 34" Toyo A/Ts and Air Lift air springs my truck is more utility. It is still a "car with a box" but I appreciate the fuel economy everyday of the eight speed when not towing.
With the help of some Moparts members I have just about figured out the WDH. Basically this set up even on a 1500 needs very little help from the WDH on a 21' lite camper. A little squat on the rear then stabilize it with the air springs.

NO...but I guess everyone has their opinion. To me, stock 4X4 Ram trucks look to be "nose down" in the front end. IMO, a 4X4 truck ought to be level. I'm not alone in this perception, which is why "leveling kits" were designed and are being marketed. Good luck to the OP, and post a pic when you get your truck "straightened out."

I have two leveling kits for my 01.... a 28ft race trailer, and a 21ft Chaparral deck boat.

headlight eyelashes for cars are being designed and marketed too.... doesn't make em any more right!

I've seen a few guys around here with leveled trucks that sit nose up like speedboats when hooked to a trailer. If you don't do much trailering you would be ok. Although I would question why one would buy a diesel in that case.
