So I have a 04 5.7 from a Durango. I need a carb style throttle body with a cable for stock style pedal. Is there any other option for an intake than Indy Mod Man? The new Arrow intake wont work with the older 5.7 ports. Does any body make a carb style intake that you can modify for injectors? The Indy intake looks ok but is $$$. Not a lot of choices for truck front cover. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The ocp one looks like just the ticket. Never heard of them is this a good piece? Anyone here using one? This is a procharged motor so wasn't sure if I should have a single or dual plane. Thanks guys

I am a little sceptical of the lower levels sharp bends where it turns to go into the head, the port is nearly verticle in the head and the port is horizontal making a hard turn down into the port. I wouldn't buy one till I saw some hard evidence from a reputable builder that it was comparable to other ones like the arrow racing single plane.


I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

That's exactly why I ask. And with the procharger does having a dual plane even make any real difference? The Indy kit with fast throttle body might just be the best bet. Not much difference in price.

I had zero luck getting a return call from OC Performance. I figured if I can't get a call before I buy one, I sure won't get a call afterwards if there is a problem. Then out of the blue there was a new MP intake on Ebay with a buy it now for about the same price. Haven't looked back before today!

Indy has some, I think Modern Muscle had them also. Try Mancini also. There are two versions, know which one you want. Edelbrock has the mount bolts.

How do you like the intake? performance? Are you running mpi? happy with it?. Also are you running a car or truck front cover? hows the fit. Thanks

The modman has been trouble for many folks. OCP would be a better bet.

For a supercharged intake the single plane Mopar one is probably the best bet for a height restricted app. XV used to make one similar to the Mopar one but I don't think they're around anymore. I agree the OCP one has some pretty severe bends on the lower plenum

Cbusters, when did you call? I don't remember getting a call and if I didn't call you back I do apologize. There are lots of ways to contact me but i can't always answer the phone. I do not recomend my intake for forced induction. Boost does not like to turn corners. I have 2 customers that have used them anyway. One in a twin turbo application and one in a supercharged application. If you did use one I wouldn't go over 8 psi or so.

I am still building. I have the 4150 model and my findings to date are:

It is a dry intake being used wet which means it has o-ring style gaskets that don't like modern fuel. The fix is Edelbrock solid gaskets and sealant filling the grooves on the bottom of the intake.
Truck front because I wanted the PS, A/C and Alt all in the classic locations.
Intake is about 2 1/2 taller than the stock RB is. I am going with a throttle body EFI and MSD Hemi Ignition controller.
The vision is a very retro, classic and production looking install.

I have the major top parts bolted on and now working on the exhaust system while the car is gutted and on the lift. We scanned a 69 Hemi H-pipe and bent a regular exhaust tube copy Friday. Next week we will cut off the front section and tack on a new splice to the 5.7 manifolds and then re-scan. Then we bend the final Stainless one piece front pipes and weld in the crossover. Once we scan the rear end sections and copy them everything will be SS and look original 69 RR. Except smaller diameter and never any rust!

We started mocking up the Classic Air A/C system so I can pick a spot for the MSD unit inside.

Mainly getting body holes put in before it goes to paint. So far the issues are little pita ones that no one can answer for me.

Cbusters, I couldn't help you with an intake and I am sorry but you are doing stuff that I did 10 years ago. If I can answer a question, I would be happy to.

This "O-rings vs modern fuel" subject has me bugged.

OF COURSE there is O-ring material that stands up to modern fuels. There has to be, O-rings are used everywhere in commercial fuel delivery systems.

The problem is that they aren't ready made for your application. The solution is to make your own out of the correct material. For example, you should be able to buy everything you need for one engine from the O-ring Store for less than $20. I picked Viton cord and their special rubber-toughened glue. Now you need the diameter.

Or, send them in some samples and get a quote on having them made for you. You could go into business!

Well, it's a little more complex than finding the right circular dimension and material.

Good thought, though.

It'd probably be thousands for prototype tools to mold these in the material of your choice. But yes by all means, send them out for a quote and see if interested in going into business. MP had regular gaskets for this purpose but not sure if they still make them.

It's odd Edelbrock doesn't know about the compatability issue as shown here http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/misc/tech-center/install/7000/7528.pdf...or maybe they know and aren't doing anything about it.


The factory rubber ring type will work wet----for a little while. If you drive everyday, they will swell up in a matter of weeks or months.

I have an OCP intake and didn't have any issues with Joe helping me answer questions before of after. Like the motor plate guy I know they have other jobs so I realize they don't have call center with operators standing by.
Started the engine up last weekend for the 1st time and seem to run good but it was just on the lift.Still have a few odds and ends to finish.

I haven't gotten there yet, but my contacts with people that have done it points me toward a sealant that goes in a caulk gun. It is used to fill the gasket openings on the intake smooth and then bolts on with the Edelbrock gasket. Supposed to be a standard gasket in a tube compound from parts stores that will resist the ethanol.

No big deal on the reply thing. Don't remember what days I called or when I left the message, but I gave it a few days and went a different direction. Being active here is great and makes you a bit easier to reach and I will keep your offer for help in mind. Questions never seem to end on my project so I may take you up on it. In hind sight your intake would not have been the best choice for my build anyway, so neither of us lost anything. It is good to have options!

I am a one man band and I still have a full time job in conjunction with my engine building, testing, and intake business so I usually can't get to the phone. My Cuda has been featured in Mopar Muscle and Mopar Action magazines. I have made my own coil relocation setup with Indy valve covers, Had an Edelbrock dual quad, Sheet metal cross ram, and my intake on my car. I also have the old round back alternator on it with heater hoses that comes from the top of the water pump. Like I said if you have questions please let me know.
