Hey Moparts,

I am wiring my switch panel and am debating on using an 18 gauge wire for my starter relay. I am using control wire so its got 12 wires all bundled together that will be running from my shifter console to my relay panel. I would like to use one of these wires if possible but I for sure don't want to overload the wire going to the starter relay. This 18 gauge stuff is doing nothing but triggering relays for my fuel pump etc. If it matters I don't know if I will use the mopar starter relay or the ford style. Thanks

Clark

The length and load determine the size of the wire,
I would have to guess the load wouldnt be greater
than 1.5 amps at max... the load is the coil in the relay
BUT maybe one of the electrical wizards will chime in

The load is what I didn't know. Length will be from the shifter console(TA) to the relay at or near the stock location.

Last time I wired this car I was 17 and didn't know what I was doing. I figure 13 years later is a good time to sit back and do it correct and clean lol. Also using more than just one color of wire .

I think the original 12V+ wire coming from the IGN SW is Blue 16 ga. But the yellow ground wire going through the neutral safety SW is 18 ga. I think 18 ga will be fine.
