My warrantee is out on my 12 so I want to look at a tuner and exhaust work on my truck. I'm not really looking for max HP I just want the mileage increase from eliminating that recirculating crap. The local truck shop wants $3000 to do this. Is this something I can do myself with the right parts. What systems work the best for fuel mileage without putting a strain on my motor or injectors. Who is a good source for info and parts?

We do quite a few of these at our shop and have used EFI live H&S, Smarty, and RaceMe software. All work just fine. With that said, an EFI custom tune would be my recommendation. There are lots of people that provide these tunes but you need to do your homework on which one works best for you. You can have multiple tunes as well with this setup utilizing a cps5 switch in the dash to change on the fly. As far as the deletes it's not that big of deal to do and and can easily be completed in a day. This includes removing the EGR, EGR cooler, and all emissions equipment in the exhaust system. We usually use FloPro exhaust delete pipes and Sinister diesel EGR delete plates coolant bypass.

On my '12 I used a RaceMe12. I only stopped the regens and stopped the EGR. I didn't want any more power or timing---it's fine the way it is. I blocked the crossover tube with a softplug and used a FloPro pipe in place of the NOX and DPF----works for me. I did this at 19 miles and only have 5000 miles on this truck.
