Does anyone have any pics of where they mounted their orange box on a b body. I want to put it on the back fire wall. But don't want to drill into anything important on the other side. realcrazy Thanks

I put mine on the bottom of the battery tray. Had to lengthen the wiring of course. Clean looking and box is protected from heat. Drilling into the firewall risks damaging the heater/AC unit.

I have installed the boxes on several late 60's and early 70's cars without a problem. Always installed them on the firewall. Make sure you drill just deep enough to go through the firewall and you should be fine. I mounted mine near the voltage regulator.

Someone offers a bracket to mount it on the engine-using the rear intake turkey pan hold down bolts. Clean and out of sight.

The best method is to ditch it and that crap distributor and go Firecore.

I’m listening.

That is Rocket Restorations.

Bracket

I used one on my A12. Most folks don't even notice it back there, especially with the air cleaner on. I don't use the Mopar orange box any longer either. My "new" ignition of choice has been the Rev-n-nator with built in rev limiter.

Mount 2 so you don't have to walk when one fails.

I mounted mine down on the frame rail just below the alternator. I have run the Chrome box no problems for many years. Also I have an MSD box EZ to swap out with the Chrome box but my preference is to run the Chrome box vs. the MSD, engine starts easier and run smoother even with a big cam..

Just my $0.02... wink

I mounted mine right on the firewall behind the distributor. It ran that way for years.

Here are two points about pointless ignition:
1. Keep the signal cable short. That's the cable from the distributor pickup. The longer the cable, the greater the chance of EMI.
2. Keep the signal cable twisted. That helps the linterference to cancel out. When I ran my box away from the engine I used a twisted pair cable for the connector. Even better would be a twisted shielded pair with one end of the shield grounded.

R.

I have always carried an extra orange box , coil and electric fuel pump but have never needed any of them. But its best to be prepared in case. I dont run the ballast as I bypassed it 2 years ago and running my orange box and Acell supercoil it does not need it. The coil never gets hot and its worked good for two years so far. Ron
