Hello. I'm asking if anybody happens to have photos they can share of 71/2 Plymouths with 295/50 tires, including 235/60s in front. I would like to visualize how they will like. Will an 8in wheel with 4.5 backspacing work with that size or is a 10in with 5.5 preferred? In addition, I'm on the hunt for new wheels. I'm leaning towards a traditional five spoke design with a gray center. Most of those wheels are a prefect match for a 60s classic, however, would any of you have photos of 70s era muscle with this style? Since none of the wheel visualizers have a 71/2 B-Body as a selection, is there anybody real good at photo chopping? I've noticed in the latest MCG that Cragar now offers a gray center ss wheel. They look real nostalgia. Defiantly curious to see how they would look on my car. I'll provide the photos if somebody can help me out.

DaytonaTurbo, I like the stance you have there. I know where you're coming at with those wheel wells. My father runs a 245/60/14 on a 15x7 Cragar on his own 74 Road Runner, and that size is easily swallowed up. I recommended to him a 275/60 on an 8in. I feel that's the best combo right there in the 60s profile. Much better than the 15x7.
Who makes the 325/50 that your after?
Yes these cars need some rake and a good amount of rubber to fill up that rear wheel well.
The 325/50 is made by BFG, mickey thompson, nitto and a bunch of others, but in a drag radial, not a street radial. I think the wides available in a rock hard street radial is the 295/50, but that size is noticeably shorter than a 275/60.

Ron, Sure helps to ask. They really do complement the 71 body style. Looks good. Please do share any more photos when you can. I love staring at these cars at different angles with various tire sizes. What you have appears to fill out the wheel wells nice. Myself, I've purchased the new Micky Thompson Sportsman S/Ts. They look sharp. I like the side profile of them. Mickey Thompson TiresSide profileTread profileI've decide I'll match up these tires with the new gray five spoke Cragars for a nostalgia look.

440mag, appreciate you sharing your photos of your 72. 4.5 backspacing tucks those tires in well. Ron, good shots. Thanks. In all respects, I feel you should tweak the bars to get rid of the fender gap up front. That would nail the look for that body style. Overall, sharp one.
Any one else?
Nice cars, guys

440sat72, You certainly have a good take on the matter of wheels. I can agree with your logic. I know some feel black wheels with black body go well. By the way, what size tires and wheels are you running? Your stance is just right. Those Cragar Nomads sure give the car a track feel, not to mention the size of the tires too. Nice job! In addition, the way you set up your hood inserts makes for a nice contrast between the color and matches up well with the wheels.

Matt,
I appreciate you sharing those photos. At this point, I'll take any submissions. I like to see pictures of various wheel and tire setups. You're 72 Road Runner certainly has a rake with those 70 profiles in the rear. What are you going to switch them out for?
I'm not sure yet since I haven't seen anything I'm crazy about.
Autorama is gunna be in detroit in a little over a week from now so hopefully I'll get some ideas there.
I was thinking 18's up front with 20's in the back but it all depends on what rubber will fit, so I'm kinda in the same boat, trying to figure out what will work and what won't. Who knows maybe 17's up front and 18's in the rear... I just dunno yet...
I'm sure everyone will hate 'em tho...

I saw that red 71 roadrunner that was built several years ago with the huge rims, looked like garbage with those big things to me, but if it floats your boat...

These tires are only 225-70 15" but thought I would show what Mirada rims look like on my 72 Charger. I also had these on my 71 road runner and to me they look good on 71 up B bodies.

440Sat72,
Interesting setup you run. What size wheels are those for the front and back and how many inches have you lowered the car on both ends?
Those are 15x7 wheels in front and 15x8 wheels in the back. i didnt lower the car in the back, i just used the XHD springs. they dont have an arch but sit pretty much flat (which is good for cornering). and i used 1" torsion bars in front and did not jack them up all the way.

Pinkduster,
Thanks for sharing your photos. I have to agree those 355/50s are quite a stretch. It just looks silly. Sharp 71 you have though. How long have you had the car?
Thanks, yeah... Silly. I agree. When my friend called the look, "Folky"... after a [Edited by Moparts - Keep it clean] chevy guy we went to school with, I knew i had to change it. i've owned the car for 4 years now, but I've known of the car since about 1991 or 1992.

That tire size would have looked fine if those rims had some more backspacing. Those stick out too far IMO.
