Hello,

I know I'm on the edge of a streetable engine with that combo and I'm currently wondering if it would run with 100 Octane (European Octane) = 95 US Octane:

440=500cui Stroker
6.76 rods, 4.15 Stroke
KB826 40 over pistons 4.5cc Volume
Zero deck
440source Heads OOTB = 82cc
0.039 head gasket
Stock Rockers (with apps. less than 1.5 ratio)
HUG SEH5660BL-8
This ends up with 11,4 static compression and 9.2 dynamic compression.
I've submitted the question to Hughes as well but want to gather as much possible answers.

Cam specs:

Lot's of variables but don't see why not as I'm at 12.1 comp and can drive on 91 but race on VP-100 at the pump. Proper timing, plugs and carb tweaks can go a long way........... thumbs

I would imagine that that the fuel you are able to get in Germany is a LOT better than the stuff in the pump here in California. You could always mix in a little leaded 110 if you need to. Like Thump said, it should be fine with conservative timing and the right plugs.

OK guys...you can't find/mix more than 100/102 octane fuel over here which equals 95 US octane. Carb will be 950 Holley DP, of course conservative timing is an option. What are proper plugs in your opinion? At present I would start with Champion RC12YC

Champions are for weed eaters and lawn mowers in my world and I run NGK #7's or 8"s accordingly.....

I don't know. My experience say maybe not. You're close enough that car weight, gear, converter and altitude will make the difference.

Nix Goodt tsk
I would try and have used the Champion RC9YC in similar motors on our pump gas here which is 92 U.S. octane with no ethanol. I'm around 3500 Ft above sea level so that has a effect on my results , I set the total timing to 34 degrees BTDC or less if I go down to a lower altitude to avoid pinging or the chance of hurting the motor at WOT work
Where are you in Deutchland (SP)?

I'm close to cologne/Düsseldorf area roughly 400ft above sea level. We will put the engine first in a stand for breaking in. I will shoot with the 0.039 head gasket and see what temperatures say on the stand. Car is a close 4000lbs 64 b Body with 2.76 rear axle and 2000 stall speed converter. I don't care about 60 feet times or so. My goal is max acceleration in 3rd gear on the highway from 3000 RPM to max speed.

This is what I am using:
NGK 7173 R5672A-8 Racing Plug $2/each.
Heat range 8
https://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=10047

I don't know about the fuel over here, but I think your pushing the limit?
The Stealth heads don't have as good a chamber and spark plug location as something like the smaller chamber Victor, Trick Flow, and B1 B/S heads.

Cool air into the engine and cooler engine operating temps (160-180 degrees F) should help

The cam seems huge to me for 4000lbs/2000 stall/2.76 gears.

I would have gone about the whole thing differently to more insure it would have been pump gas friendly.

I know............Not much(any?)help.

I spent nine months stationed in Hanau, Germany in 1967/68, we military drivers always stayed in the right lane on the Autobahn except when we would occasionally pass some slower trucks or cars and we used the rear view mirrors a lot.
You had to laugh when Poppa and Mamma with the two kids in the back seat all dressed up for a outing in their Merdedes four door sedan going as fast as poppa could make it go would not move out of the left lane to let some single German driver by himself in a smaller BMW flashing his lights on the Mercedes rear bumper for him to pull over, that was NOT going to happen haha
For those in this country that don't know, their is no speed limit on the autobahn, you can go as fast as it is safe hammer devil You did not want to get caught by the Polizi(SP?) passing any vehicle on the right side on the Autobahn, they did not allow any passing on the right side tsk
Different country, different rules shruggy

We put it together that way on a engine stand for breaking in the cam and gonna see if detonation will occur. For the setup...my cruising speed is 60-70mls equals 2000/2500RPM in third gear. How much torque can I expect at 2000/2500RPM? 300/400??? If running slower than 60mls there is still the manual VB to use 2nd gear.

Follow Up we ended up using FelPro 0.051 head gasket and the NGK '7s

Its absolutely perfect! Thanx to the 12' converter (2000 stall)
which I squeezed into the UltraBell and the beefy handbuild TorqueStrap
it idles relatively smooth. NO issues with detonation, water stays at 160° all day long. It revs up like a 2-Stroke engine. Easily, smooth cruising
but if you push the pedal it revs up and moves like hell. Downshifting into
second gear and you fly! For me its both of two worlds it has the torque to rapdily move the heavy car with the heavy converter and the long 2,76 axle and if you push the pedal it really goes! So far not pushed above 100 Mls as the power lifts the car in second gear. New adjustable shocks needed.

Only downsize...950cfm Carb seems to be to small

Congrats on the results up
It was a real eye opener for me when the first gas crisis occurred here and I ended up buying a Toyota 2000 CC 4 cyl. truck to drive to work , no power shock shruggy
I had never owned a 4 or 6 cylinder car or truck before that so the power difference was a new expereince shruggy
I can not imagine your sensations with that stroker BB in your car devil
Be real careful in the rain trying WOT tsk twocents
