Have a forged crankshaft in my 70 440 engine.
Crank stamped "Sabatine 11-76" no chrysler part# on the crank.
Anybody know what Crank I have, DC crank or?
Ust curious what crank I have in my engine.

Thanks Peter

It was 010" on both rod and main bearings. Now after the rebuild it is 020" on both.
The org match block that was std bore before, now 030" is stamped with an "A" on the oilpan/block surface both sides.
Also an "A" and a maltese coss on engine pad.
???

I think that Maltese cross refers to factory undersize main or mains. It might be the rods too, but from like 35 years ago with a 63 Dodge that's what it meant. One or more bearings might be like .001 under. Since it has been rebuilt, that won't make any difference now.

Thanks for the replys, since the crank was turned 010" undersize on both rod and main by previous owner in PA, USA late 80th's, this crank must have been std before that. So somebody had it replaced earlier than that???? 1976?

So why was the stock crank 001" undersize, because of some damage to the crank at assembly at the factory?
Or was it extra bearing clearence with a 70 440 sixpack.

And finally the block was std bore not 020" over that the stamped A indicate.

Thanks Peter
