I starting a new thread on my 37 Plymouth pickup and its transformation from marginally driveable with a 289/C4 to a 6.4 Hemi/545RFE/4.10 Dana 60 monster.

Today I dropped it off for getting a 4 inch mini-tubs in the bed so the bed is even with the frame rails so I can fit these 295/50/15s on 10 inch wheels under the truck. The next step will be to order a narrowed Dana 60 with 4.10 gears so we can do the 4 link rear.

We are going to do it in stages, get the rear 1/2 of the truck done first then tackle the front including doing the motor and trans along with a Mustang II front suspension, 4 wheels discs as well

Those tires are going to look great under there.

"........4 inch mini-tubs in the bed so the bed is even with the frame rails so I can fit these 295/50/15s on 10 inch wheels under the truck....."

Yeah , I had to go look under the back end of mine. That would be a fairly easy job to pick up a bunch of tire clearance. work

Those brakes should be plenty for the truck.

Looks like it will be awesome. Tires & brakes look perfect and swapping out the old Ford 289 for a 6.4 Hemi is a big plus! Good luck with the build.

Building '41 Chevy street rod with Mopar LA power. I tell my Chevy buddies it's on the Chevrolet improvement Program.

Milke, I don't think you can find a much easier vehicle to mini tub

I got the crate Hemi about 6 months ago, hope it's sitting in the truck by August

Regarding the rear brakes, let whom ever is building your Dana know what brakes you wan to run so they can use the correct housing ends and axle offsets.

As for how they work, well got a 98 Exploder with those brakes and they seem to work fine.

Definately will let the rear end builder know, I need just a bare housing with axles to do the 4 link, then I will have it all powdercoated before it gets gears

Yes, you have the fresh new good stuff.

I just mentioned it due to:
1. Additional parts you might want (driveshaft core, accessories, harness connectors, TPPS, etc.)
2. Having an engine/trans to fit without worrying about damaging the fresh stuff.

I assembled a 340 once starting with just a block, crank and rods. It ended up costing more in time and money than if I had just started with a complete motor. That's why I tend to look for stuff like I posted, even if I end up with more stuff laying around. And my yard proves it!
The project sounds great and should be quite a handful when complete.

Angled 4 link or straight with a pan hard bar?

Got the 37 back to the shop, the 15x10 wheels with the 295/15/50s are on it. They stick out past the fender about 2 inches, so I'm thnikng of going about 2.5 inches per side so need a rear end that's 5 inches narrower.

Those tires look good on the truck. Thanks for posting the last picture, I had wondered what you did for a gas tank. The picture also reminds me that I need to get around and start on my rear roll pan. smile

Generally a 4 link has the springs inboard of the rails.

He did say he was going to a 4 link in the initial post I believe

It's an Isuzu Sidekick tank, only bad thing is it's only 11 gallons, I bought it brand new off eBay for around $100, you can have it when I yank it out if you want it. I got a 17 gallon fuel cell coming that fits in the same spot
