I bought a pair of the Milodon oil pan gaskets and the gaskets have already soaked up a little oil ( actually assembly lube ) and it's leaked a few drops while sitting on the stand! Like most big block sitting on an engine stand, it was tilted slightly downward toward the front. I looked at the motor today and noticed the gasket at the front driver's side corner was wet and there were a few drops of oil on the floor. On Ralph's KB hemi, we used the blue Fel-pro performance gaskets and they were great. I don't recall the part number tho.

What are you guys using? I want to replace these gaskets before the motor goes in the car.

I've got cork with some silicone. It has worked well but requires a lot of care when tightening to avoid splitting the gasket. Tighten barely finger tight until the silicone sets up then tighten normally.

I will get the part number to make sure, but the KB Fuel oil pan made by felpro is blue with a blue metal core and is reusable. They are a touch expensive, not do not leak!!!!

I've had good luck with the blue felpro gaskets. They are double layer with a steel shim. The cork ones seem to crush too much and have a tendency to loosen up. I don't have a part number handy.

I always used the Mopar Performance ones, P4452099. That is a pair of oil pan gaskets, they also sell them individually.

I always use Felpro cork with black RTV, but here's the Felpro steel shim gaskets.

Same here. But I use Ultra Black RTV with no gasket.

You guys that aren't using gaskets, do you have regular stamped steel pans, or are they thick flanged aluminum pans.

I've only had one oil pan leak ever, and it was the one time I tried using just RTV and no gasket.

Moparrush...........You will need 2 pan gaskets for use with a windage tray. It is also a good idea to attach the gaskets to the windage tray only and I would use the good 'ol brown gasket gasket shellac (sparingly) from Permatex no other sealers are required. I agree with Moparlifer with the Superformance Products #2585 pan gasket. It's stick resistant coated and can be reused, packaged flat so it won't take a week or so to get the kinks out of the Fel-Pro and simply it's a better material.

I'd give Superformance a call 1-866-925-7855 http://www.superformanceproducts.com or they are available from Chenoweth Speed & Machine 309-266-8084.

Priced rite and good stuff!!!

This was listed on another post. Just thought it might help.
Superformance does not sell to the public but you can call them for info. and where to buy them.

The only things I use gaskets on anymore are heads, intakes, valve covers, oil pumps, and carbs. I also use sealer to glue gaskets to the larger surface and sometimes grease the other side for easy disassembly and gasket reuse. I use the high temp for headers and am now using sensor-safe everywhere so I don't have to worry about my WB o2 sensor.

Cork gaskets are fine with a little silicon on the metal.(ie pan rail, pan, wind tray) Also, put a drop of silicon on the bolts and it will keep them from vibrating loose. As mentioned, do not over-tighten.
Good Luck

Stamped steel pan with windage tray. A good dose of RTV should seal better than a gasket in most situations!

The ones Indy sells. Put a Fel Pro cork gasket used RTV and it leaked even around the bolts. Brought another one from Indy and no leaks.
