I just pulled the pan of my 727 to find what you typically find in a 727's pan with 3000 miles on it when I also noticed some very fine brass or bronze particles also. where is that from

brass or bronze would be from a bushing or a thrust washer

Was it all over the place or was it in a little pile about the size of a nickel? Alot of times that can be normal wear and tear. 3000 miles on my Challenger is probably 300,000 in regular miles .

Don.

A little bit of metal sprinkles in a low mileage trans is normal. A picture would help.

probably all of the parts wearing into each other. like breaking in...

think of it like changing the oil after breaking a motor in, and checking the filter..., kind of like that?

When I rebuilt my 727, I had the pan back off to change converters after 30 or 40 passes down the track. It had a pretty liberal amount of "stuff" in the pan. I was told that was normal for a new rebuild. I put it back together and ran another 50 or so passes and took the pan back off. Still had a bit of metal filings in the "mud" in the bottom, but nothing like the first time. I ran another 200 passes and took the pan back off and there was a small amount of "stuff" in the bottom, but much less than before. It looked to me like the parts were just getting broke-in with 300 passes. This was in a very low HP, heavy bracket car, YMMV.
