Can it be done with out to much heart burn.

I have a 6.4 block but a 6.1 +.010 rotating assembly.

Vvt unneeded in this application. Carburator isn't out of the question yet.

Also can you use a 6.1 cam at that point as well?

I believe you can buy a spacer for the 6.1 crank snout that will put the timing chain in the correct position. Molnar Technologies sells this.

You must use the vvt chain because of the front cover, just lock out the vvt.

The only way a 6.1 cam would work is with the use of an adapter by A.C Nutter. They offer a snout that goes over the existing cam but it is very expensive. You would be better off getting a vvt cam.

Thanks for the info

I think maybe scrounging up a 6.1 block may be a better solution for this build.

Not sure about the crank, I read (on LX Forum I think)that the 09 and newer crank can be used in the older blocks but you have some machine work to do to the snout of the crank.

I bought this kit for my 2014, 5.7 haven't used it yet.

I'm building a couple boosted Gen3 performance block based 6.1 engines currently but I recently acquired a new 6.4 block and a drag pak 6.1 based 392 rotating kit as well as a set of cam and lifters real real cheap and new still so I'm weighing the options on the most economical way to finish it.

6.4 block is a lot stronger IMO

The boosted engines are using the new aftermarket Gen3 performance blocks
