Since my project is not running yet, how does a gen III hemi stack up against a big block sound wise?

I keep hearing that Gen III motors are not as loud as other older engines, so if there were 2 cars, one with a 11:1 big block, and one with a 11:1 Gen III given the same type of exhaust would the Gen III be much quieter?

I hope not as the sound is important to me.

It is gonna rev way quicker as the rotating parts are many times lighter so that is gonna make it sound very different.

Any new engine seems to have a different sounds to me, maybe the more efficient heads make a difference (less timing?)

There might be different firing orders to that make a difference. Most of the new engines don't have near as much camshaft as the old school stuff due to a the far superior cylinder heads.

A decently cammed Gen III will sound pretty good. My Power Wagon is fairly mildly cammed, but it sounds pretty darn good with the right exhaust, and has just as much power and torque as a BB, with decent fuel mileage to boot. This truck sounds almost as good (and more lopey) as my BB Dakota. I do love a BB and is always my choice for a build, but I'm starting to come around to the modern engines giving them the respect they deserve (now have 2 hemi swapped W100's).

It won't sound the same cuz the G3 is more efficient with less input. Meaning same power with less.

My 219/227 in a high compression 6.1....Sounds better than any bigblock I've owned, but I never played that game right any way.

I am going to ride on the shirttail of this conversation with a muffler question. I currently have a stock 383 RoadRunner with Accurate Exhausts "mostly" reproduction system with manifolds, "Hemi" mufflers and turn downs. For this car the sound is not too loud but can drown out the radio. I am building a Conv 69 RR with an 05 5.7 Gen3, EFI, stock with manifolds. I want to hear the radio in this car but also want a little noise at WOT. Never had a Gen3, so how do I pick the muffler for a highway cruiser? It needs to be just a little quieter than what I have now.

I am not familiar with the "acurate" exhaust" but an X pipe can tone it down a little in a good way if you don't already have one.
