So I'm looking to make some power with boost and was going to go with a Hellcat short motor.

After looking around I can get a complete 6.4 truck big gas engine with low miles for a similar price.

The BGE will give me a Hellcat block and hellcat spec 356-T6 heads which is great for big power.

After reading Rams press releases it seems the BGE had comp dropped to 10:1 for low octane, a special forged 6.4 crank to handle big towing loads, forged pistons and uprated conrods.
Im wondering if the rods are uprated to the point they are reliable @1000hp like the hellcat stuff and the same with the pistons.
If so i can just open up the ring gaps and maybe fit some good bearings and be done with it.

Has anyone had BGE rods and pistons in their hands and eyed them for their durabilty?

The Hellcat oil pump seems to be a upgrade however the HC crank timing gear is a different part to a normal 6.4, is it required to run a HC oil pump given that it drives it or upgraded for other reasons?

Wish I had some answers for you but on the surface, it looks like the BGE is the way to go. Even if the rods aren't Hellcat rods I'm sure they're good for a substantial amount of power. Looks like us Gen III guys finally have a boost ready JY engine

The only problem is the price of them. Given they are 2014-2017 models only so they are pretty new. I looked on ebay and they ranged from $4500-$6500. One advertised for $4500 the wrecking yard ended up doing for $4300 and free shipping that was complete with all manifolds, sensors, coils etc but no wiring or pcm which i dont need anyway and best of all it had only 2000 miles on it. Given that a hellcat short motor is around $4k shipped im getting 356 alloy heads, coils, valvetrain, timing set and 6.4 intake for $300
Plus here in Australia we pay that sort of money for a 2005 5.7 so im happy enough.

When i get the motor i will strip it down and try and establish the durability of the pistons and rods and report back here
