So I need timing set and oil pump. Going with the 6.1 stuff.
Where is the best place to get it? Rock auto melling or mopar?
This engine is going to be 99% street duty

Combo is 6.4 crank turned to 3.79
5.7 block bored .020 over
Early 5.7 heads ported with 6.1 valves and new seats.
stock 6.1 cam
9.8 comp.
Thx Matt

Sounds like a nice little combo, what's it going in?

03 Dakota.
Been reading up on the oil pumps.
Do I need the 6.1 or I'd a standard 5.7 good enough?
They say that the 6.1 gets rid of the famous hemi tick.

Absolutely go with the Melling M362 6.1 Hemi oil pump. I got it the cheapest at Rockauto. You can easily find Rockauto 5% off coupon codes that will help offset shipping costs. The 6.1 pump will give you more oil supply, most importantly, at lower RPMs and save you from eating your bearings long term...
