I just noticed that Classic Industries is offering an OER authentic Mopar authorized interior door panel set that is correct in every way. Has anyone tried these new door panels? How do they compare to originals? The reason I ask is I have a very good set of original SE door panels that my son doesn't want to use in his 71 Challenger. I offered them to a friend with a 72 Challenger and he's not interested either. These panels just need new carpet at the bottom and have the seven bottom clips. I may just sell them and buy some new panels but was wondering about the quality of the OER panels. I have a set of new Palco panels stored that look terrible. Opinions please.
Thanks.
Terry

Metro made the best E-Body door panels IMO. I think they sold the molds. Pretty sure David at Roseville can still get them.

Agree those are as close to original as you are going to get.

So the grain and fit on the panels sold by Roseville are close enough that if you use original rear panels and reproduced door panels, it would be difficult to tell the difference by looking at them? Thanks.

depends on the color of the panels. i would say if you were going to match repro black with original black panels you might not tell the difference. condition is everything. the lighter the color the harder the match.

I have a couple more questions about these door panels. The 70 Challenger Se I owned had the woodgrain inserts with "Special Edition" emblems. These panels do not. The number on the back is 2879612 for Rh and 2879613 for LH. I seem to remember that the 71 Challenger could come with these door panels even though there wasn't an SE. You can see by the photos the slots/ holes for the carpet/reflector at bottom are there. Anyone else know if these were available in 1971? Thanks. Terry

Yes: I had a 71 Challenger R/T with the cloth seat option and these door panels.

Also 70-71 leather seats in (middle inserts) got cloth on bottle of doors.

My June SPD 1971 R/T Challenger with cloth insert seats has the carpet on the bottom of the door panels.

Here is what is listed on the back of mine.

So is there an exact replacement carpet with the correct border to go on the door bottom? The ones I've seen available don't show the border material. It also looks like the border material is glued to the backing board in your picture. I'm contemplating whether to go with new carpet or use a dye to redo the original carpet.. Thanks for the photo.

Legendary makes real nice reproductions complete with new backing boards. You'll need to reuse your original reflectors and mounting clips or just make up some new clips out of sheetmetal if you don't want to tear your original panels apart. They're over $100/pr though and you need to attach the carpets to the backing boards yourself (w/spray adhesive) so if your originals are otherwise in good shape I'd probably just redye them.

Also if anyone needs to find reflectors the same ones were used in Imperials, not sure of the exact years but I think around 69-73 or so?
