No. No hemi head will fit well on a small block. The closest would be a early hemi. It is pretty close and *could* be done by somebody with access to a machine shop but the cost outweights the benefit by a gigantic margin.

I think a while back there was a deal in MCG about some shop who was making a hemi head conversion kit for small blocks. I don't remember who it was but I did call them and it was big money.

Are you talking about the old school HEMI heads or the P-5 small block stuff???

The P-5 head has a dedicated block, but maybe if you can get a new XR style block with a blank deck......the possibilities are endless.hehehe

old hemi heads will fit on the first generation of the poly, the one with the real serrated valve cover. There is some difference between the early and late poly that allows this. My son is knowledgeable in this area and has done this, but he's not around to detail this right now. But old to old poly info is around.

Dont know much about the polys , are they big castings like the old hemis or light like a la block , can you get any cubes out of one?

If I remember right the LA bottom end will fit in a
poly block but the block is wider than a LA block
(the poly block was the original A engine)

Only Dodge hemi (241, 270, 315, 325) heads fit Dodge poly (241, 259, 315, 325) blocks.
Only Chrysler hemi (331, 354, 392) heads fit Chrysler poly (301, 331, 354) blocks.
No original hemi head, of any brand, fits Plymouth etc. poly A (277, 301, 303, 313, 318, 326) or LA (273, 318, 340, 360) blocks.
DeSoto hemi (276, 291, 330, 341, 345) heads don't fit any poly blocks.

QFT.

Bore spacing is different. I checked on 'em all, because I was thinking of doing a swap onto a later lower end if possible (less weight and less $$$).

Seduce the attractive, and charm the rest. ****** 489 C.I.D., roller cam, aftermarket heads, tunnel ram, stock '54 Dodge rear axle assembly: which of these doesn't belong?
