I know it's a no-no to use anything but a nice brass gear for solid roller lifters but is there anything wrong in using the same brass gear with flat tappet solid lifters?

Cab.. what is the reasoning for this.. my thoughts
were that you didnt use the OEM on the roller due
to the hardness of the cam and it pounding back and
forth on the lobes(as it came off the lobes)

What I have been doing lately is rounding the edges on the camshaft gear itself
. And this process has greatly added to the life of distributor gear... a lot of times the cams have very sharp edges..

I thought it was bronze? Mine get really sharp after a bunch of passes and I just replace it. There is always glitter from it in the oil filter. The cam gear on my roller cams is the same shiny color as the bronze intermediate shaft gear. Is it just coated on there somehow? I guess you should use like gear metallurgy for best results.

Are you talking a roller cam and bronze gear.. I have a
solid flat tappet and bronze gear.. I didnt have any
stock gears laying around so I uses a bronze that was
on the shelf.. it was new.. it has a couple hundred miles
on it

Not sure if this was stated already above (didn't read the whole thread), but a bronze gear is nothing but Band-Aid engineering. No reason I can think of to run one if you don't need to.

If the roller cam gear is bronze, don't you want a like metal gear to mesh with it? Same is true the other way around? It's all antiquated engineering now. Everything uses belts. There are ways to not run gears in the engine.
