Have a MSD6 - called MSD and they can't even tell me, and i can't find this in any of the older catalogs I have. I have the normal 5 pin Mopar plug on one end - then a wire and also a female on the other end. The female says Batt. Just wondering if this is correct or ? Will post pics soon.

That's what i thought too. I hate seeing smoke after installing electrical parts. Your Bro has the same exact MSD6 with the 5 pin connector on one end and the female and the wire on the other end?

That sounds like the old MSD 6c. The 5 pin end let you plug the box directly into the factory wiring(if you had electronic ignition). The spade end should be for the tach if I remember right.

Ok

I used to have a couple of MSD 6C boxes with the 5pin connectors. They had a #12 black bat neg -,#12 red bat pos +, and a tach connection on one end and the Chry. 5 pin on the other end. They used no ballast resistor

If looking at the 5 pin going clock wise (12 o'clock)ign hot, mag pick up neg-, mag pick up pos+, coil pos, coil neg.

The black wire shown with the blue tape has an eyelet on it. I know the later MSD6 has dedicated + and - wires on on end and the normal connectors on the other. This one has the 5 pin and what is shown in the second image. I knew of the 6C but for the life of me cannot find a schematic of it.

That should be the ground. The spade above the wire is for the tach. I used to have the schematic on the 6c. I will check and see if I still have one.

Ok

Here is what I came up with. Its for a 7c the connections are in different locations than the 6c but should still be similar. Hope it helps. [img:left]http://[/img]

70AARcuda - thanks. But to clarify since you have a 6C - does your module have the female and a black wire on the other end from this 5 pin connector? Thanks to all that have replied. As for why I am trying to use this antique - it was a good friends unit who passed away. It worked on his car and he had it as a back up unit. We had a joke going about not throwing good stuff away - and in general not throwing anything away. So I want to use this thing so he can "ride" around with me as I cruise the places we used to cruise back in the day. Silly? - yep.

It has the red lead for the battery and the black negative wire on the other end from the 5 pin connector...plus it has the tach output too

Thanks - sounds like my unit is a tad different than most - I had a 6 that had the dedicated + and - plus the 5 pin - this relic has just the black ( I assume - ) on the end plus a tach plug.
