I'm hoping to fix and use this charcoal canister, but there's something missing from the bottom?'
Anyone have pics of what this should look like. It's a completely empty can with a couple of metal plates floating around inside.

I don't know anything about these, but I went out and took two pictures of ones I have outside.
First two are of the one I have. The last picture has that same removable type padding and then a bunch of charcoal. I didn't dig any further into it.

Then I pulled out that yellow piece and found this:

This second one I was about to pull out that material but then saw all the charcoal so stopped.

There is a round foam element that goes under the plastic bar on the bottom.
The plates hold the charcoal in place. If loose and not affixed then would have to be fixed. To the best of my knowledge the canister is permanently sealed and was not a serviceable part. There is no way to open the canister without cutting it apart.

There have been several threads over the years from individuals showing different methods on how to rebuild.

From what I remember some had a replaceable type filter on the bottom and that looks to be missing on yours. Ron

Missing filter is pn WIX 42998

Missing charcoal is pn Kingsford

Just kidding on the charcoal.

You essentially have a non-functional vapor canister.
