State of Confusion
I am going to be replacing the a904 in the 88 2wd Ramcharger.

She is a gutless wonder TBI 5.2 but reliable as heck as a daily driver.

Has 2.96 rear gears in a 8.25 open diff.

Its purely a daily driver. I have no aspirations of performance.

It is 90% highway driven at 65-75 mph. Tires are original size 28" diameter. I just went to a 275/60 in the rear for looks.

I am unable to verify the original converter. Other than it is a lockup. Would the factory high stall be a good idea for a low power 5.2, highway gear diff to get it rolling? Or would this have used the standard stall? Any harm in using one over the other? My understanding is that a factory high stall is not much, maybe in the 1800 rpm range.

Thanks for any advice.

I doubt you will see much difference in either, some use a lower stall in diesels because they made more power at a lower rpm than the original converter.
