if its goin in a stock tunnel you will have to also peen over the pinch weld between the firewall and tunnel. i dont know you or your car, but if it aint like some kinda original collecter car do yourself a big favor and drill some holes thrugh the fire wall to put the tranny bolts in,its a tight squeeze with sheild because the bolts have to be longer.

I never did get one to fit my factory tunnel. I ended up getting a blanket.

We had to do some serious to the stock tunnel to get it to fit in the Duster. Also had to cut the ears etc.. off the tranny to get it in.

Hi Tim! I fit mine in the stock tunnel but it was a PITA. Peen the seam, cutting holes for the bellhousing bolts is almost mandatory, and cut the tabs off your trans. Another important thing is make sure nothing is touching it. If it gets any heavy gouges, cuts or scrapes it won't pass recert and will only be good for 5 years.

I had to fold the pinch seam over also, and cut a rather large hole in the floor of my duster to make it clear.

I'm not sure why you guys all say to drill holes in the firewall though. I didn't think it was really that bad to install the bolts. But if you had a mid-plate in the car, and couldn't angle the trans/motor down, I could see why you'd need to...

make sure you tighten that belt as hard as you can cos it's a beach to get it tight once the trannys back in place. i bought a 24" long 3/8 socket extention to do mine. with practice it's not so hard to do but its a 2 man job.

Interesting stuff guys,lol, sounds not much better than the tci sheild I,m trying to install now.I originally bought a tcs sheild and I cut the top of my tunnel off and added a tunnel from a chevy truck to get it to fit. My supplier told me tcs didn,t make them anymore so I bought the tci one and it hit,s the tunnel, bolt holes won,t line up etc. I finally got it all together and trans in the car and forgot to put the shifter linkage on with the spacers after pulling the sheild in place with ratchet straps, soooooooo I undid the one drivers side to get the linkage in place and no way in hell I can pull it all back together. Sounds like the trans is coming out again wether I like it or not. I will except this I guess,lol and try to put it together again with the shifter linkage in place and see how it goes, Tim

fit perfectly fine for me, never touched the pinch weld or anything. guess i have an oddball. 68 coronet, hemi with converted k member, stock mounts. it is pretty tight in there though. you can gain about a 1/2 inch by moving the belt around since one of the lugs hits the trans housing

oh i did cut the shield though since i was definately not going to cut the tabs off the trans. they say that voids the cert? well my car don't qualify for any of there certs anyways so im cool with that.

one more thing to check,i had two csr sheilds that the bolt holes didnt line up.you have to actually strap it down and make sure the bolts go STRAIGHT thru when the shield is tight,its a real pain when you get it all put together and every thing is perfect except one stinkin bolt hole is off.

I've have used a 904 727 csr shields the older ones had allen bolts so i made a short tool to usewith a long extention then the newer one had 6 pts bolts so i use 6pt socket with a 3/8 ratchet wrench works pretty good .All my trans i cut the ears off dont need them ..I still like them over a blanket .TCI you will cuss it till you throw it away will not fit a tunnel pry to get if not all most bolts in PIA

Mine fit fine after a little

I know that we've all seen the questionable pics of the blown-alcohol car. Has anyone here exploded a tranny into one of these shields and seen what happened? In my own case we went with the largest blanket we could find b/c we didn't feel that a carbon fiber shield offered the most protection.

This is the one thing that makes me think about putting a glide in my car!!!! I really am not a fan of cutting up my car...I definitely understand that its a necessary evil...but I wish there was another option!!!

Hi guys I got the dam thing in. I cut out the top of my tunnel, took the pan off and ground off the lip on the trans pan where the shifter linkage used the spacers to line up, so I wouldn,t have to use them , 2 guys putting it together, one guy on the bolt and the other guy pushiong and pulling as hard as he can to line it up.
