So I installed the tank, and installed a vent line to start to mimick the factory ECS system. Then I recalled due to a comment on FABO and that I needed to research the Command center vent, and I found I was right fuel would return through the vent.
Since the Command center has to be "vented" to the tank and the ESC system vents to the engine via the charcoal canister. I had to rethink things. A third line is required....more to follow and I also needed a return so I bought another fuel sending unit with a return, it arrived Friday. I checked resistance readings (73 to 10 is normal I think, I was higher) and it was favoring reading empty early which I am good with. In my Cuda with non stock exhaust I was able to swap the sender without dropping the tank (no resonators). My fuel gauge rose slightly up to the empy line with 5 gallons added from bone dry, and every 4 gallons was a 1/4 tank.

I think the return won't actually work for the vent as I'll need to vent to above the fuel level. I may need to T into one of the vent lines between the tank and fuel vapor seperator in the trunk

I am still ensuring that I will have the supporting venting and return correct and then I will complete the install.

Excerts from the instruction manuals:

"The Fuel Command Center contains an internal float mechanism that shuts off the fuel flow once the sump tank is filled.A 340 L/PH EFI pump is submerged in the fuel in the Command Center sump tank. The Center also has a regulator and fuel pressure gauges."

:FiTech offers two different fuel delivery options. One is the 40003 Fuel Command Center. When using this option, you can configure the system to operate on a returnless basis."

"Remember that your system will be running at 58 PSI so consult a professional if you are not certain about this portion of your installation"

In another post (about vented caps as the system calls for one) we ended up back on these topics, and I asked for the 71 service manual info on the exact return/venting and ECS set up to help. Here is something I was emailed and am considering if I can tap it into my return from the Command center vent. Returned Command center fuel would only be able to get to the ingoing low pressure fuel line sooooooo that could work

So I will run an ESC line from the factory fuel vapor seperator in the trunk to the engine (used to go the the charcoal caniser first), and a return/"vent" line from the Command center to the fuel sending unit OR T into a line to the OE factory vapor seperator in the trunk

I wanted to add this so if anyone is else is concidering this system they can research this as well to ease install.

I had the car out as my youngest had a dance and her dress was black and red. They wanted to take photos with the car so I obliged (the missing OE 15" brushed trim ring doesnt like the current valve stem)

I'm looking forward to hear how much of an improvement this made on your Cuda.

So am I grin

I just finish a month of overtime so the car sat.

I think I have the vent figured out, and have some parts on the way for it. I plan to T the Command centers vent into the rear most ECS vapor seperator vent line. I still need to figure out a 180 degree turn for the 3/8th exit from the Command center.

Today my 3 year old great nephew (a true motor head whose first words were vroom vroom) who has loved my Cuda since he first saw it, finally took his first ride in the Cuda.

I had went to his older sister's soccer game. He asked where my car was, and I replied it was at home. "I go to your house".... "Put my car seat in Auntie Jeannie's car" LOL well he knew what he wanted and was not discouraged, eventually his Dad relented and loaded up the car seat.

He has admired it, and played in it, and has had me start it for him while he played inside. Recently he expressed the desire to go for a ride. Well today he got his ride and loved it. We even stopped by a neighbors and saw his 68 Camaro.

Passing on the hobby is important. I was just like him as a little one. I recall being taken on a motorcycle to go see a full blown GTO racecar when I was about 5... and today I had as much fun as he did.

My super old OEM style headlights have had it, here is a shot showing the difference between one old bulb (dr side), and a Sylvania silver star H6024 (on the pass side). I am happy with the changes and the results. I also had a reverse light housing bulb opening break while replacing a bulb, so I aquired another and am getting it ready

Stainless lines for the fuel injection vent/return and the fuel tank's vent/emissons, and a correct p/n dated thermoquad..... yeah I have plans to expand and I'm being flexable. All bolt on's are generic stirthepot devil whistling

Fuel lines are going in, Thank you Challenger1 for posting photos of your fuel lines it helped me determine I had the wrong clamp kit, now we're cooking.

This is how I vented the tank fwd to the engine (the 1/4" line will vent to a valve cover breather line a 71) and how I "vented" the command center back to the tanks ECS system lines.

Here is the command center vent and fuel lines. I covered all the bare electical wiring in braided sleeving and used heat shrink for a neater look, allot of the wiring already came that way. I still need to clamp all the the lines together at the filters.

I do have a factory ECU for looks, I have a hidden MSD 6AL, and MSD distributor that I locked out and have the FiTech also controlling the ignition

All mods are reversible no factory wiring was altered and NO holes were drilled, only exisiting factory holes were ulilized, even the brackets were redrilled to match the car

Here's is some thermal wrap (made by JC performance) that I will be using to "shield" some of the wires from electrical interference for the ignition.

It's about 3" wide has a foil backing over a fiberglass woven material and has velcro strips sewn on the entire length to roll/close it. It is about the size of a dime when the velcro is aligned properly, But I think you could adjust it a little either way if you're creative. I may even wrap my fuel line near the engine.

I also bought a 90 degree fitting to replace the included 45 degree fitting allowing me to fit my 1-1/2" K&N drop base aircleaner. (I know the 90 degree clears a 1/2" drop base) I add these details to help the next guy, because the only way I could answer fitment and clearnace issues is trial and error.

Note the original heater hose and stamping, original ribbed washer hose, and even the original retaining loop clip.

Yes, so far so good. It was doing great and I learned how to adjust the unit's throttle to get the IAC in spec and drove it a few miles today. So learning kind of started over. Shutting it off after each time I'd vary driving habits to get slight stumbles.... which seems to be getting the computer the data it needs to adjust and reboot.

The car seemed to be getting stronger/more responsive each trip.

Here's a comparison, a 72 voltage regulator I recreated (fake) with a stamp I had made for another car I owned Vs what should be a 71 NOS example

The car seemed to really be pulling harder at certain points than it ever has, and seems to still be learning.

The MSD may be messing with my timing light (mark apears to vary 3-4 degrees), and the car also doesnt like RPM below 3K ... kinda pingy

Next is to record some data, I can see via my wide band gauge that it goes REAL lean during decel and pops through the exhaust so I'll adjust the decel fuel map via MAF readings.... stay tuned

I'm excited for you. I think within the next 12 months, I'll pull the trigger. I'm getting tired of waiting to warm up the car and am hoping for a little better mpg.
