i like milodon (have ran before on bb)but, remeber some guys saying they run moroso because, the kick-outs on the milodon interfered w/headers .building new motor old headers are cheap hookers w/eddy head 4-speed probaly need to upgrade headers as well

My Milodon pan hits the K member on my Duster. I've trimmed the Kmember as much as possible but the pan is almost touching it. I have to drop the motor in and then put the pan on. It is a real PITA. If I ever need a pan it will be a Moroso. I ran a Moroso pan on the 340 I had in the Duster and it fit perfectly. I sure wish I would have gotten a Moroso instead of the Milodon when I put the 360 in the car.

Get a moroso if you can deal with the pan depth the milidon will require a big notch in the K-member and headder clearance is a big problem with some headders

We ran headman 1 7/8" w-2 headers and had to notch the k-member to get the engine in and take a hammer to the the pan to get the headers to fit. This is with a milodon pan, because of this I probably wont ever use a milodon pan again. it was a pain.

Do the Moroso pans still have the drain plug on the bottom where it can be hit?
I used a Milodon wide-bottom like the one on Ari's car on my 406" street Duster; had to notch the K about 1" x 1", and for the headers, had to clearance the left rear corner at the bottom (widest part) about 1.5" x 1.5". But I think it's a better pan, becaue it holds more oil lower (away from the crank). I never scraped either the pan or the headers.
I've also had to notch the K on other cars with just a deep sump pan similar to the Moroso.

I ran a Milodon on my 340 with TTI headers with no issues, only the small notch in the k-member. My 408 will have one also but with the Heddman 1 7/8" headers it required some work. I already had the 360 pan or I'd looked at a Kevco (sp).

I like the charlies pan. No problems what so ever. However, Mancini has this aluminum pan that looks good.

I have a brand new Charlies steel pan that I had built when I was gonna run Top Stock. Its a super nice pan. Its never been on an engine. I had it powdercoated black. It has a nice kickout, but hey....thats free horsepower ! I can email a pic if you want one. My email is brmbb74@aol.com
I'll take $300. for it ( way less than I payed ). Its for a 360. I have used pan for a 340 thats aluminum that I'll take $200. for if ya want it. Its also a Charlies pan.

I'm using the Milodon 8 qt. because it is a bit shallower (but wider) than the Moroso and the coating is much nicer and much more durable. The K-frame notch on the passenger side should provide plenty of clearance if enough of the "lip" is cut out. It's about a 1 1/2" triangle and it doesn't cause me any intallation problems with the pan on.

The header clearance issues is not Milodon's fault. Most header manufacturers have a footnote on the issue. I know Hedman does and I found out the hard way long ago when trying to use their 1 7/8" headers. But I have been running TTI headers and they fit and work great. (Don't need a 90* oil adapter either!) I'm not sure if their newer 7qt. version clear the other headers or not. But it wouldn't hurt to call Milodon and/or the header manufacturers & ask.

The Moroso 360 pans still have the drain on the bottom and I ripped it out many years ago when a tire dropped off the pavement on a return road when giving room to a jr. dragster.

Moroso, I have 2 of them one on my W2 motor and one on my broken 340. Both work good. I had the Milodom S/S pan years ago but got tired of taking the suspension apart every time I took the motor out and the other Milodon pan kicks out to far and would hit my headers.

Which pan are you using? Did you have to use their pickup?

I like the moroso 8 qt. Had it in my duster. No clearance probs at all. No cutting the k frame. I had 4 speed with tti headers.

Which one are you running? I was going to run a charlies pan, but these are way cheaper.

Back when I bought my pan, they only offered one pan for the 360.. Now, I see they offer several different pans

The Pan I have is the M302.. and yes, you have to run their pickup tube.. M301-1

Here is a thread I created way back when I installed the pan..

Excellent, don't know how I missed that, thanks for the link.
Do you recall what the pickup inside dia was? Just wondering if it was larger than stock like the Milodon/Moroso (one of them at least). In another thread, it was mentioned that just drilling out the inside of the threaded part got a full 1/2" pickup all the way - something I would like.

Will this car see street duty? If so, even with the need to notch the K-frame, go with the Milidon. They are much shallower, so you don't have to worry about smashing it like a moroso...

I suppose you could drill out the inside, but I havent noticed any need to do so..

I doubt anyone on here will ever say "NO, you cant run a particular part".. Its your car and you can do what you want...

Milodon is a good pan and the only complaint us Small Block guys have is the need to grind on the K frame.. I ran the Milodon pan for the first few years and never had a problem.. so I'm sure you wont either..
