If you are looking for a "street quiet" muffler at a reasonable $ ( as compared to the big name brand stuff), you might want to look in to the "Jones" line of mufflers. These are high quality all welded, all stainless, semi straight through design ( angled perforated pipe ) mufflers. Low back pressure in a relatively small package. I replaced some straight through Borla's with these. Much quieter at idle and cruise, but still some bark at WOT.

Looks clean.
What type of Borla's did they replace, the XS or XR versions?

I have a pair of Borla ProXS on my daily '73 Dart and they are very quiet at idle and cruise. Only real noticable when you're on the throttle.

They were stainless round - straight threw. Probably XR's.

How do they compare to a Dynomax for sound?

I've got a pair of large case 2.5" Dynomax Walker mufflers on my '60 NY with 496" stroker engine.
Their sound charactistic, for the most part, is like normal turbo mufflers, they only are a bit louder when the engine is 'working' and they have a nice rumble at idle.
I installed extra resonators behind them because they where just a tad 'too present' for easy driving.

I have Jones mufflers on my 440 Demon...they are great mufflers! Quiet at idle and mild acceleration, but will bark when needed.
