Anyone running newly produced Polyglass tires on their favorite Mopar?
Curious to know if they ride any better than the Polyglas tires manufactured maybe 10 years ago or longer.

I've had them on 2 cars and they actually weren't too bad on my Challenger T/A, but they were horrible on my Coronet R/T convertible.
Could have been age of tires, who knows.

You talking about Goodyear Pollyglass GTs? Kelsey is the only maker for them.

Yep had 10 year old G 60-15 Good Years on my car and it drove like crap. Bought a new set about 3 months ago from Jim Miner he has a Good Year store and a member here. The car rides/handles great. I went with 2 G 60-15's and 2 L 60-15's. After a burnout they are even sticky, must be a softer compound then years ago.

Also, are the L60's mounted on 7" wide wheels? They look GREAT!

I switched from radials to brand new F60-15's on my '70 Road Runner (stock 383 suspension) the only difference I noticed was the tread liked to throw rocks. I have maybe a thousand miles on them so far.

I just used tin snips and a BFH to clearance everything!!

Just kidding no interference at all on 7" rims. 8" would flatten the tire more but I can't stand a trim ring gap.

Need more pictures of that Black Cuda!!!!Best car you own!!!

On that Cuda years back I put a new set of F 60-15's on the front and 25 year old L 60-15's on the back and that car was also very solid and true down the rode.

That's one beautiful 71'
or is it a 72'?
Love that body style and as far as I'm concerned, that color aside from the F4 Moss green or what ever they call it.

Yep, I'm talking Good Year Polyglass baby. grin

I love the look, but have shied ( sp shyed ? ) away from them because of how they handled. Stuck with radials.

I heard they might be manufactured with a softer compound, so I wanted some real world experiences with the new stuff.
Thanks up

Do the new ones track as good as radials?
Old ones would follow any rut in the road ...

Oh, and nice cars guys drool

Good question, no I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking they are as good as radials, they aren't. But they also aren't like the old used sets I used to run. They will follow the ruts and certain lines in a road.
The best way I can describe it is I CAN drive one handed with New Good Years but couldn't with old used ones.

When I first got the car on the rode 3 years ago I installed 4 used G/Y's. They were from the mid 2000's. Every piece of the suspension was new or rebuilt. Had an aliment done for Bias Ply's. Then I bought new BF Goodrich Radials and used them less then 6 months and couldn't take the look and browning letters. I then went to the brand new G/Y's and not going back!!

Went from this to this.

Love the original look, but the compromised ride and stiffness, not to mention the new rattles is nothing to write home about. Have kept my radials, wheels, caps and beauty rings mounted up in the event of a long trip off to Spring Fling should be in the cards.

I remember when Goodrich Radial T/A made a RWL that were actually glistening white like these 5 year old Goodyears. Too bad that Goodyear no longer makes this good looking and decent performing tire. Are you listening Michelin? Michelin now owns Goodrich.

These tires do work great, hold up, and are made here in the US. If anyone is looking for these or any of the Goodyear reproductions, contact me and I will be happy to help! 816-654-3400

I heard they are going to make the original Goodyear Polyglas GT style tires in radials as an option. Can anyone confirm? (I think they are by far the BEST looking RWL tires ever).

I have a set on each of my 3 cars (thanks Rusty) and love the look. While they don't handle like a radial and wander on bad pavement nothing beats the sound of a bias ply when doing a burn out.

They look fabulous with the Magnum 500 road wheels. That's the look I'm going for. What size are your tires in front and back?

Not sure what the size is in today's numbers. Rusty is on here quite often, maybe he can chime in and answer. I looked and there is no size on the tire other than the F60

F60-15s are roughly equivalent to 235/60/15

Excellent! Would it be possible to calculate what the rough equivalent to 275/60/15 would be in a polyglas GT tire size?

I speak with Kelsey on a regular basis. As far as a Radial version, it does not look like this in the cards. Kelsey has always prided himself on being the most accurate reproduction available.

We do have some reproduction radials available. Feel free to contact me anytime with any questions. 816-654-3400.

As for pricing, I will be happy to share.. get with me!!

I've been waiting to replace my original GY's with repops. The originals ride really rough. Hopefully I can swing them for this season.

Joe- once it warms up and the salt is gone, come down and take the '71 GTX for a spin, or the '70 Bee. Both have the correct sized Polys that I bought from Jim a couple of years ago. As RJS and others mentioned, they do track ruts a bit, but a minor annoyance to deal with, the looks are KILLER! I just don't like the look of radial tires on vintage musclecars.

Hi Joe,

I drive Polys since 20 years on several 1970 B-Bodys.
It is important that they are new.
They are excellent the first 5-6 years when new. Very soft, great grip, too.
After 5-6 years you can slightly start to notice that they get harder. After 10 years they are hard and not nice to ride in rain anymore.

I have driven several sets from new to thrown away after 15 years.
In total I drive my cars usually 10-15.000 Kilometers within a year on Polys.

Front tires can last up to 20.000 Kilometers if the front end isn't worn out or missaligned. Rear tires hold depending on your right foot.
