Angle Repair in Beckley WV. Check with them to see if they work on Craftsman wrenches. Also if you know anyone in the aircraft trade, they have to keep up with their tools and may know someone local to you.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I have a craftsman clicker and before I put my 383 together this summer I had my machine shop compare against his wrench.

We used to inspect Craftsman torque wrenches when I worked in service at Sears.

Pretty simple. 1 foot from drive weights were set. Its been almost 30 years but basically we hung 25 lbs on the scale type and checked. Did this again at 50, 75, 100. On those cheap wrenches you adjust the needle. On clickerz you checked using a 20 lb weight. Then added 1 lb at a time till it clicked. We followed the scale and noted each entry on the inspection card. Was told they check micometers before my time there.

I calibrated torque wrenches and gauges at a research center.
1. Do not ship your torque wrench. It will be worse than when you sent it.
2. Fastenal would be good if you could walk it in and walk out with it.
3. Clicker types are just as accurate as digital and can be repaired easier.
4. Comparing to other torque wrenches is ok as long as you use a smooth pulling motion and same person does both or 3 torque wrenches is better. Birdtracker

Tool Trucks all have a simple checker --they will check for free and they are close enough--the way you use the wrench has more impact on correct tq than the wrench--never jerk it like you see the NHRA guys doing on a million dollar funny car--one smooth pull---last batch I had I checked four from my shop--cheapos--Snap Ons, Etc all were near enough--it is surprising how close they all were when you look at price and the Snap On 3/8ths is the one that is always breaking a tooth in the head--once a year easy--others never any problem--FWIW the one from Lowes for $50 was dead on enough for the space shuttle

most torque wrenches are checked at 20% from the bottom, then at 5 intervals until the top 20% of the range. ñormally +-2 to 5% tolerance is allowed, just have a metrology lab do it, cal is normally good for a year. but you can specify 2 years. tim

I calibrate mine a couple times a year using a torque adapter mounted in a fixture I built and mount in a vice. Nice to have for spot checking, especially if the torque wrench is ever dropped. The adapter was about $50. I got the lighter weight model which is good for 4 - 146 ft lbs. Check YouTube for adjustment procedures.

Take care.

I did mine the same way. I found my old Craftsmen to be right on, but my new Eastwood to be off. I recalibated it using the checker.
