One of my T/A's has 3.91 gears in it and I do not have the buildsheet. The fender tag does not have any Axle package listed on it so I'm not sure if they are the original gear. It's a numbers matching engine and trans and the rear axle looks original.
Would a factory 3.91 T/A have an axle package listed on the tag?

It's on the tag that is bolted to the 8 3/4, but I have not opened it up or counted the turns to confirm. For some reason I thought T/A's were 3.55 gears?

Not on fender tag. Unless you have the build sheet or window sticker you can't tell for sure if you got that ratio. 3.55 was standard and 3.91 was optional on T/As and AARs. Sorry to hijack, but on a similar subject, my T/A is a 3.91 car, I had a repro ratio tag, but it doesn't look like the resto shop installed it on my rear, nor gave me back my tag. I have to buy another, but which stud on the mounting does this tag go on?
Check out my car show and cruise photo albums here: Show PicsSeeking info on a Mr Norms sold T/A VIN JH23J0B308737. Does it still exist?

Would the 3.91's come standard with the max cooling package by chance? Or was that optional?
On a side note, A friend of mine has an aar cuda that he swears has the original 3.23s it it.. was it possible for this? I knows there are a few 'standard' differences between aar's and ta's...

Would the 3.91's come standard with the max cooling package by chance? Or was that optional? there was NO orderable "MAX COOLING" on ANY US spec. vehicle (it was part of a "PACKAGE") the STANDARD cooling system was the same on all A53 "TRANS AM" e-bodies: 2998 974 radiator 2863 216 7-blade fan 2806 070 torque drive unit the A31 (3.91:1) used a larger capacity "MAX COOLING" radiator 2998 949 with the 340 4bbl (A/C was not available)
