Is that bottom picture an axle tube? I think that would be a stenciled date. My T/A was stenciled a date in that location.

how would you read that as a date? I thought it would be a line identification for on a broadcast sheet as to what rear end went into what car

I'm thinking most of it is missing. I will try later to find the pictures I had taken at the time. If I remember correctly white stenciled date. I found mine under a light coat of grease that covered the entire rear.

Already found one. A car I used to own. March build 70 T/A. Fender tag states 324. Rear marked 320Z

One more.... Never seen a rear that had original markings so nice under the grease.

I used a putty knife. Then I took the pictures and reapplied the markings after I restored the rear.
