We made 695HP and 530TQ with it...6.4 heads, 12.5:1, custom IMM cam, stock rockers and lifters...used a 1050 and drag pak intake.

It was fun using the MSD and no leaks!! Really neat sounding engine, very quiet even at 7500rpm.

I am happy to hear this. Any drama with the MSD?

Lightly ported them, kept the oem sizes but switched to Manley valves...5.7 truck block and 6.4 heads.

WOW. Almost 700 HP with no tricks. Sounds like a basic set up well thought out. Can you share any more info.

Very nice! Would like to see specs on the build also. What are you running for a rotating assembly? Those TTI headers?

Yeah Brian im wondering if you tried a Dominator or not or if this is for a customer or your own test mule. I have a set of Apaches and have been wondering if they would be a big enough jump over CNC'd 6.1's to bother with. Im concerned also if the 2.14 intake valves will clear my older Manley pistons valve relief's. I will get the Apaches CNC'd eventually but its a toss up by who, MM,BES or Thitek all do them and claim 380-390@.600 lift which would be a 30cfm jump over the 6.1's. My 6.1's would be perfect for a turbo build later.

Be nice to see one of these engines go in a 2800-3000 pound car instead of a 2 ton brick to see exactly how well they run.

I hear ya. I have a few scrap-yard hook-ups on quick dial just in case I ever want to wonder in this direction. I don't really see it happening but never say never.

How are these blocks and oil pans for putting engine diapers on them. Anything faster than 10.50 needs a diaper on it now at my local track with more tracks joining every year. I had to make 2 header tubes on my LA style Hedmen headers this year to get mine on.

We used a Scat crank and rods, Diamond pistons. The TTI headers were a bit large for this engine at 2" with a 3.5 collector, so with the customers header (1 7/8 step to 2" with a 3.5 collector) plus the E85 the TQ will be closer to 560's...we used C12 fuel...this was with a 1050 dominator as well.

Cam is one that I spec'd, sorry no details for now. Peak HP was 7200rpm and peak TQ was 5700rpm.
The heads were used because of the E85 as this tends to make the heads intake ports smaller because of the mixture ratio.

I did the heads, they flowed 370 cfm...I kept them small to (even though they are quite large alreay)keep some velocity...6.1 heads would have made more avg. power on this cid using race gas I believe.

I didn't even match the 2" adapter to the intake or the carb...it's untouched!
I love how quiet the engine is and simple it was to get good power. I'll let you guys know how it runs at the track...it's going in a tube chassis RX7 car that will weigh 2300lbs. with driver!
Brian
