I am trying to find out if disc brakes were standard equipment on Duster 340's for the years 1970,1971,1972 And 1973.
I have come up with conflicting answers from the Internet.
Of coarse, original window stickers and Factory info would help.

Barry Washington --- Your thoughts and remarks are not welcome on my posts.

Thanks in advance.

Hey RAII4_speed, The 1970 Duster 340 came standard with the 4 piston caliper Kelsey Hayes disc brakes as standard equipment. The power assist was an option. 71 and 72 drum brakes were standard and power assist was again an option as well as disc brakes were now an option. the 1973 Duster 340 came standard with disc brakes. This year (1973) it also became the 4.5 inch bolt pattern wheel instead of the 4.00 inch bolt pattern wheel like the 70,71 and 72 used.Hope this helps you out.

Hey RAII4-speed, You are correct on the 73s. I own a 73 Dart Sport 340 and it came standard with power disc brakes and is also listed in the literature for the 73 that power disc brakes were standard on the 340 car.The 72s have me perplexed as I owned a 72 Demon 340 and it was a manual drum brake car. I have also looked at other 72s that had manual drum brakes and were legit 340 cars.On ebay right now there is a HB1 Blue 72 Demon 340 a factory 340 3 speed stick car and it has manual drum brakes on it. Dont know if maybe it depends on when they were built? I also parted a 72 340 Duster that was rusted completely out and it to had manual drum brakes on it.

I had 2 '72 340 Dusters, both had drum.

The '72 window sticker has a high serial number.
It's possible (pure speculation) that late in the '72 production run there were more disc spindles in stock than drum. Maybe Chrysler was trying to use up the extra disc spindles by making them std on the late production '72 340 models. Both spindles were not needed for '73 production as the drum and disc spindles were different along with the upper A-arm.

edit;
RAII, you not doing yourself any favors with your sig line.

Post all you want anywhere you want. What Bee said, Ma was known for using up stocks of what was on hand as it is about efficiency/making a profit/keeping the lines moving/maximum output & that is all good.

OK so here are 2 window stickers from 1972 Dusters .. One says Power disc and the other does not list disc at all as standard equipment .... THREE40, I also thought the same as you in your fist post and now I too am confused as to 1972's.

the 1972 dealer code book shows power brakes & disc brakes to be OPTIONAL on Duster 340
scope but, it must have been confusing enough for someone to write "optional" on the copy I have

I have a b'cast sheet for a 11/24/71 - SPD, US spec. HAMTRAMCK Duster 340 - it is coded "B11" - drum brakes

here's a copy of a window sticker for a 12/12/71 - SPD, US spec. HAMTRAMCK Duster 340 - it states "power disc brakes" - STANDARD

IMO questions were probably raised why the disc brakes were no longer STANDARD & a change was made during the 1972 Duster 340 model year shruggy late-November or early-December (based on the few pieces of info in this thread)

the first window sticker is a reproduction with errors spank part of the "problem" adding to the confusion

THANK YOU 6BBLGT .... I had assumed exactly what you have shown but I was looking for a explanation .... SO, It now seems that a 1972 Duster could have come WITH or WITHOUT disc brakes as Standard equipment...
