I've got a damaged drivers side 6.1L cylinder head. The power steering pump was hit from the side and it ripped the PS pump mounting bolts out of the head and broke off pieces of the mounting pad. I know the heads are side specific and have separate part numbers but it looks to me like I could swap heads from side to side and just drill/tap new mounting bolt holes for the PS pump. Other then those mounting holes they look identical. Thoughts?

You will have to re-drill the exhaust bolt pattern as well.

I have seen a guy tap the heads so he could flip the manifolds forward for a turbo application, didn't look like a horrible ordeal.

Sounds like it may be easier/better to weld up and re-machine the damaged area.

look , i dont think you can.. thats why there are 2 different head gaskets, if you could then both HG would be the same.. think about it!

I used two left side heads on my 5.7. Had to use two left head gaskets and block on of the oil drain back passages. I didn't have to re-drill the exhaust holes.
