If you unloaded the trans during launch would you check the sprage of your 727?
2800 RPM launch, limiter set at 6800, rear broke at the go light.

check it, right after you re-weld your spring perches! I'd also box in the ends of your spring perches. Wade

Gave me a chuckle Wade. I did the re-welding and the boxing you suggested.
Buying the blanket too.
Suppose I better check the sprage, but will I know what I am looking for when I see it?
Is the bottom of your right foot itching too?

Itching indeed. I thought I had a picture of a sprag installed during assembly, but I can't find it. Maybe someone will post one?

Sprag isn't the only thing to check , a friend boke his rear , just as the roller starting to roll over and jamb the rear drum he got lucky and the mainshaft snapped off just past the splines for the front planet .

In case you need more convincing, check your sprag. It happened to me and the sprag was rolled.

Here is a pic of a normal sprag. When you remove the rear drum, do so slowly and carefully so you don't make the rollers come out during disassembly. The rear drum engages the inner race in the picture, and you could disturb it while removing the drum.

Look for springs/rollers out of position, and the little tabs that the springs press againts could be bent over.

Thanks all. I'll start by pulling the trans and go from there.
