Yes its prob time for me to look into a better seat. I have all the safety devices in my car an the beanch seat dosent fit the mold.
I do plan on running S/C this year. I have never had a racing seat ever. I want something that would be a good fit for me.
I do use a HANS device, I weigh 150 an like to set close to the wheel becouse of the pushbutton shifter. What seat do i need?

Kirkey pro street seat all the way...I don't think I could get in your car! Or if I did I could never get out.

Kirkeys are nice seats

I could car less if i ever do any good at all in S/C. There are Division 5 races around here. Those are the safest an fastest places to go. No delay box, no throttle stop, just a peddle. I just think that it would be darn cool. I can do burnouts further than a dragster an carry the front wheels. Its it all about having fun?

thats a lot of weight to go .000 to .025 on the tree to hang with the dragsters. good luck !

do you have to cut that seat in half to get it back out of the car ?

While definitely not "sleeper" looking at all, I would put a glass or carbon seat in it, similar to the ones in Pro-Stockers. Then you get the ISP insert that is molded to fit you. Being loose in the seat, is what gets people hurt. If the seat does not "fit" you, the belts can't be pulled tight enough to keep you in place if you crash. Shawn, I know you like the sleeper look and don't want to change it, but you should. Tony Russo's car is the same way. 8.40s in a bench seat is crazy.

i will try to find a better picture for the seat as mounted in relation to the door frame.i am 6'2" so my seat is back some but still close enough for the stock console shifter.maybe you want a seat with sides on it.

judging by the position of the bench seat a seat like mine would be OK.if it had sides you may have trouble getting out unless you had a removeable steering wheel.i dont think you want that either.some of the spearco[sp] seats looked nice but i dont know if you want less weight most of all.

Kirkey "fat boy" seat here.

Shawn, you do realize the S/C is a delay box/throttle stop class don't you?

It will be fun to get in there and mix it up footin' it though.

God bless yah for going after the pipe racks but,you will find that style of racing, expensive, slow paced, "clicky" and severely outgunned .

Divisionals will be a 2 days at the track for about 3 time trials and getting thru 1st round will be almost impossible (I'd say no chance but, you have a chance)

National events will be 3 plus days at the track with maybe 2 hits on time trials and again, elims

If bad weather hits, well ...its , much worse

If memory serves, think only one door car has ever won a super comp event at that level and it was against another door car

In the last like 15 years

It would be wild if you stomped Stinnet first round, oh boy would I giggle

I actually think a door car that will run the number flat out, has a decent chance. He can make the car react, just takes work. I can show you a boatload of 3200lb, 7.0 1/8 mile cars, that can go red on a 4/10, pro tree, every hit. Yes, SC is mostly dragsters, but that is because they are easy to set up, easy to see out of and easy to make run fast, but last time I checked, high mph never meant much toward winning the race. If you hit the water thinking you can't beat a dragster, you won't.

How so ?

I didn't try to insult anyone , just telling you how difficult it would be to win rounds in NHRA or IHRA super comp ..

It is without a doubt a knife in a gunfight

i wasnt going post anything because you dont listen but ill give you my .
1st none of these guys push trans buttons on their cars. me and you are the few exceptions. how many times do you adjust your seat to reach the buttons. i rember years ago you liked the nostalgia look, you went from no wheelie bars to a stupid single wheelie bar which you probably going to kill yourself with and now your changing a beautiful car with a ton of old school to a fixed race seat where your probably going to have a rough time reaching for your buttons from time to time.you need to be able to get to your buttons at will. these guys dont have a clue on how difficult it is to be able to hit the buttons right at the correct time.
leave your front bench seat, stop wasting money and go have fun. im going just as fast as you,and by the spring ill be mid 8's, no wheelie bars, 10 inch tire and no power adders, and footbraking.
theres nothing wrong with racing with a bench seat.

Shawn that sounds like a lot of fun. As crazy as it sounds I hope to try div. top sportsman racing this year. 8.00's and faster at the div. meets. If I can get some 7.80's out of the new engine I should be good to go.
