Is this a drag only Hemi? If so how fast and what 60 ft. times and which oiling system are you using now? What problems are you having to make you ask this question?

7.5 quarts here. 572" hemi running 8.90s at 150 mph at 3900 lbs. Haven't had over 7.5 quarts in this motor in 10 years and never had a problem. I use the cheap 440source fab'd aluminum pan. Milodon single line external p/u. http://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-Fabricated-Aluminum-8-Quart/productinfo/200-1076/

12qrt if you can fit it....my 10qrt is border lined and I will be looking to put a kick out in it soon....Been down this road many times, and 12qrt always works. 50% of the issues we have seen with a Hemi after somthing has gone wrong was oil starvation. Most the rest seem to be dropping a valve or over revving it.... I was checking out the Milodon road race pan... Stock chassis in my junk. You hear anything good about them Randy? Milodon 31581 is the part.

Everything is new and on the stand so i cant answer any of those questions. Well, maybe one, its gonna be street/strip. just trying to spend money once. Mild ft cam, 4.150 stroke, pump gas deal. Stock internal pickup. Dont really want an extrenal oil line because its gonna be cramped enough.

I try to make the pan(I build my own) as big as I can.. but I ALWAYS run the oil height short to keep the oil away from the crank... my current SB I built a 10qt pan and run 7 qts in the pan plus the filter.. I also like to run a remote filter for ease of changing the filter and the added volume... but thats just me... and scrapers and a good windage tray help EDIT When running any big pan you need trap doors and walls to keep the oil at the pick up

[/quote]If your putting the motor in a 1966 to 1970 B or a 1970 to 1971 E body I would look at the stock 1970/71 426 Street Hemi/440 6 pak oil pan with the stock 1/2 pickup I used one of those with the stock 440 6 pak 3/8 inch oil pick up in my old pump gas Duster with a 518 C.I. low deck stroker with a solid roller cam that I oiled the rockers full time to help cool the valve spring, I drove it on street meekly and ran it at the strip shifting it above 7000 RPM in each gear That car weighed 3450 lbs with me in it and ran a best of 9.993 at 134.8 MPH through the complete 3 inch exhaust system and air cleaner on I never had a problem with that oil pan and stock 3/8 440 6 pak oil pickup as long as I didn't let it get down on oil to the add oil line on the calibrated dip stick 6 quarts in the pan and one in the stock type oil filter, ran good, lasted a long time I use that pan and stock 440 6 pak 3/8 pickup now on all my BB B and E body street car builds
