Has anyone on here have ac problems (not working for whatever reason) ? Mine stopped and I need some idea of the fixes before going to the dealer-stealer. My compressor is good but won't stay on. Put 12 volts to compressor and blows good cold air. Replaced hp switch too. 2006 3500 CD

Best to get it to a shop that specializes in AC

The power output is to the a/c compressor is controlled by the TIPM or fuse box next to the drivers side battery. You will most likely need a scan tool to check for fault codes and actuate the power supply manually. First check for an a/c compressor circuit open fault in the TIPM. Then use the scanner to check for a possible broken wire or bad connection. The compressor clutch coil is the most common thing to fail on these trucks but since you can jump yours to make it activate the TIPM or bad wire is likely the problem.

Thank you, it does try to turn. Goes about a half turn, stops, haft turn, stops, this goes on until I turn off the switch, also the engine surges each time it tries to turn. I guess it's modual time.
