NOT a whole lot of companies made brackets to go with their glass bumpers. And when I was first in biz ..I plead guilty to that but I did make brackets for maybe 30% or so of the bumpers we produced. In the REstart of the biz ...I will be making brackets for EVERY bumper I make.

Send me a pic of the brackets you want made ... and maybe I can help-you-out.

Which A body is that ? ..... The way I made the ones I did make ...were EXACT duplicates of the OEM steel pieces. Now some of the heavier bumpers had FOUR brackets per bumper. All I would make are the furthest to the outside ones.

I made my own out of fiberglass using the original steel brackets as the pattern/mold. I laid 4 layers of glass mat & resin over the steel brackets & it worked great.

Be aware, there's a bunch of steps involved to making them, than what I mentioned above, but it's extremely easy to do.

The difference between the steel bumper & brackets to the glass bumper & glass brackets was 30 lbs.

Hey Ray ... are those brackets welded or bolted together ? .. and which leg is to the outside of the bumper ?

And like I have said before - there are lots of things you can do on your car that are not rocket-science -- and fiberglass work IS one of them. But some people have determined that 'glass-work is a pain-in-the-butt and can be very expensive to do ... if you have to do the job more than once.

You can also remove a good bit of weight by making holes. Get a set of quality electrical kockout punches (Greenlee) or just use drill bits. Its not going to be as light a glass but every bit helps.

The ones with the hole on the top are the outer legs, and they bolt together.

The factory brackets consist of two-pieces bolted together. Perhaps you can unbolt each bracket and use a single portion on each side to hang the fiberglass bumper with.

You should be able to further reduce the weight by swiss-cheesing the bracket and I bet you could easily get the weight of both brackets weight down around 10 lbs with a minimal amount of time and effort.

Just a thought.

Hey Guys ... swiss-cheesing is always an option ... but it will in no-way be even near the weight savings of a fiberglass or alum bracket.

Now when I have made the brackets in the past ... I have always made them to attach to the furtherest point to the far right and left of the bumper. The inner ones(on a 4 leg bracket) ..... just are not needed on a FG bumper.

Now if someone wants only the inner brackets to be used ? .... I will not partake in that project. It is simply not enough support for the bumper ...IMO.

Using the originals as a mold to make fiberglass ones seem pretty doable. But unfortunately I don't have the outer legs (removed by previous owner) inner brackets only worked fine with the steel bumper. The inner brackets don't support the fiberglass bumper enough to mount correctly.

Sorry for missing posting this point until now ... BUT using the brackets for a mold ? ... depending on which side you use .. the finished part will be either be too large or small.

BTW ... where did the pics come from showing the complete bracket assembly ?

Another point ....making the outers is a bigger part and project.

But as you observed ... the inners only(even on a small bumper like a Challenger) .. would not be near-enough support.
