I made mine , wasn't hard, use some 1/8" x 4" flat stock. Mock up with cardboard trace on frame and cut and weld.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I made mine aswell, i used 3x5x1/4 angle for the inside and then welded a plate to the outer to make a U. i would definately NOT use 1/8 if you plan on making any power at all. factory ones are 3/16 (these are for bolt in relocators not moving to the frame rail)

I'm sure the gusset is over kill, but it's going to be a street car and I wanted it stout for daily pounding. I also welded on a thick washer over each bolt hole. I think I have maybe 6-8 bucks in them

Thats what I'm talking about! It beats the $180 price tag from Summit.
I will be moving my springs into the frame rail and I thought about cutting the rail and using the outer portion of the rail wall and build the inside from scratch.

building your own you can make then square and not the clusterf&*k that i got from MP.

I doubt the crosseyed QC person could use a square properly to see that mine were a crappy parallelogram at best. neither side was close to parallel.

I left the outerside of the rail intact. You will have to use an offset rear shackle because the spring will not be centered in the rail.

This was out of a C-body and I made some spacers.

I did this on a RR many moons ago. I cut two pieces of 2"x3" 1/8" and measured back from the transmission cross member to the hole on the stock spring mount. I took the hangers off measured the length and cut my pieces of 2x3 my first measurement minus the length of the hanger. Then I welded the hangers to the tubing. I then cut the bottom out of the frame rail and cut the hanger into the rail untill the tubing touched the transmission crossmember. Welded it to the crossmember and the frame rail. It looked a whole lot more factory than what they sell and I bet stronger too.

Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.
