Ditch the 3310 for a 4150 carb. As much converter as you can stand and have fun, you should see high 7's without much trouble.

agreed, but you need more gear. one of the cars i sponsor from my shop had a 318 that had been bored with edel. heads and a comp. flat tappet cam that ran 6.90's. it had a 557 gear and 33" tires

Just one thing... Iīm building my 318 because here in Brazil we just have 318īs.
Everything arrives here for the double of the price... so... Itīs not cheap;;;
comparing the prices of parts for BB and SB... itīs almost the same.... so.. if you want to get the limit of your 318... it will not be cheap...
Use a NOS kit and you can make it cheaper!

I am far from broke but with the econnomy and current politics my car is going to sit in the shop till we can DUMP ALL THE LIBERALS like a bad case of diahrea over the next few years. At this time guns and ammo especialy ammo should be one of your highest priorities only behind feeding the family and taking care of the house. W2DODOGE your post is so far out of line,it almost doesn't warrant a reply. that type of attiude is scary..."get your guns and ammo ready"..you have got to be kidding me..the poster didn't ask you anything about politics nor did he ask you for financial advice.If you were to read his original post you would see that he stated that he was using parts that he already had...he just ask for some input on what it would take to make his car go in the high 7"s..did you offer any information or insight on the original question?...sorry for the rant,but i found that very distrubing..as far as my suggestion for you combo...you need as much compression(i.e.have heads milled) and as much rear gear as you can come up with..along with the rest of your listed combo you should have no prob reaching the high 7's..

granted, now probably isn't the time to be buying stuff for it, but you'll definitely need compression. I'd pick up a set of KB399 pistons (1.81 CH, 6.2CC dome), it'll probably be cheaper than milling the snot out of the heads. and if you have the heads and they have 1.88's in them, I wouldn't bother going to a 2.02 unless the heads need to be redone.

Not to be crude or anything but where does it say Im spending any $$ on it? I lost my job due to circumstances beyond my control and yes Im sure I will have to spend money on it sooner or later yes but right now I was just asking advice to obtain a goal for a car that will "someday" hit the track. I lost alot and had to give up alot but what people dont realize is that fooling with these old cars takes my mind off things and makes life not seem as bad. My anti-drug as you could call it, so whats wrong with that?? If I sit around and mope about how terrible my life is and how dont have this or that, what good is that doing anybody?-myself of course included. Im 27 and I have goals in life but those goals dont include sitting around waiting on a handout or a freeride. Unlike most people my age, Im not out there dealing drugs. Im asking questions pertaining to something that has nothing to do with politics or religion. That's here nor there and way off topic. Im not snubbing or flaming on you, this world has more hate than it needs. Good day -M

I would look at the 4.56, its more responsive to any rpm chages you will need to make at the finish line but you need to match the gear, tire with your RPM that you'll turn and that cam is in the 5500 range

No they shouldnt but they would be shrouded and the notch will help out. The 273 block is the only one that requires the notch..... as far as I know
