Is there an aftermarket master cylinder with a built in push rod retainer? I remember there being a post a long time ago when someone had the push rod fall out the back of their master cyl.

Just can't remember if it was Strange, Mark Williams, Lamb, etc...

I just remember it wasn't Wilwood, which is what I have now.

I don't know about a retainer but Aerospace has an adjustable length pushrod.

Yeah....I have the adjustable length push rod, but I think most of them just have a rubber bushing that retains the push rod in the back of the master cyl. There seems to be one manufacturer that makes a hard retainer though. Just don't remember who.

Why not just fab up a stop to keep the pedal from traveling back far enough to let it come out of the master?

Mancini lists a "brake pushrod bushing" - maybe its a solid piece?

I made my own out of some vacuum tubing,,,,and worked fine.
I also have a bracket built to limit the travel of the pedal so it wont fall out if the bushing fails.

I got under my dash when I read about that happening, I yanked and pulled and tried quite hard to get my pushrod to fall out. I think If the rod is long enough that with the brake pedal pulled all the way up, you still can't yank it out, you should be alright.

If you look at the design on most of the cars you
will see that the stop light switch is the stop for
the pedal so if you dont have the switch you most
likely dont have a stop on the pedal

This is what I was going to do, but since I have a leak in my master cylinder somewhere and need to replace it I just thought I would get the one with a built in stop. Maybe it is a good idea to just build a mechanical stop anyway.

So who makes a good aftermarket mastercylinder? The Strange unit is priced right.

How about this?

That is a good suggestion, but I don't know if it will work with an adapter and the factory structure on the dash side of the firewall. Looks great for a chassis car though.

I know, I made mine from 5/16 DOM tubing I bent it in sort of a U shape and welded it to the pedal bracket.
