Not yet. Im still in the pricing phase. I need a lot of items to get the engine running. Still need to find a flywheel/flex plat/clutch, need to determine what kind of trans I have and if it is compatible with the engine, need to rebuild the small carb I have, need to find 2 pistons(ring landings broke-up), probably need new main bearings cuz Im missing the upper thrust bearing,....the list goes on.

Not even sure where to start with the trans.

If I cant find a rebuild kit for the carb then Ill have to get a new one and they are pricey!

But if I need a new cam and new lifters, should I go ahead and beef them up a little now? Then I would also need new valve springs and Im not sure what lbs and size to look for if I do get an above-stock cam/lifter.

Lot of stuff to process.

If you use a small cam like the Comp Cams early magnum series or similar with under .500 net lift the stock valve springs should work fine scope
As far as replacing those two stock OEM street wedge pistons look under the bottoms of the pistons and post the casting numbers on here, I may have one good used one in my shop luck
Are you going to use a stick shift tranny or a automatic tranny?
Which carb type and part number are you wanting to use? I use to race a Max wedge car with AFB carbs. and I have a lot of old carb. kits left over so I may be able to make up enough gaskets and parts so you can freshen yours thumbs work scope
Tell us what you want your motor to do as far as street, street and strip or what?

I have this thread looking for a suitable piston replacement:

https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/2043438/re-piston-search.html#Post2043438

Casting number is 2465533; measurements match the pistons in the link=> https://egge.com/part/egg-t100-l2229-8/

Im trying to rebuild the carb I have. Its a Holley with stamp numbers 6253 and 0868

Id like a manual trans but Im not sure what I have. The only number I see on the transmission is 0-95638; the bell housing has the number 3681131.

Im rebuilding on a tight budget so my main objective is to get the engine running. Not going for top performance or strip, just a cruiser. Dropping it into a 66 Coronet that I also have to rebuild.

If the bell housing is seperate from the tranny it is probally a stick shift tranny twocents Can you post a picture of the parts you have now? If so do that and we'll go from there thumbs

These photos were taken a while back. I have since cleaned all the pistons(the 6 intact), connecting rods, bearings and oil rings(and landings). Ive also dis-assembled the heads(not shown) and cleaned them along with the valves, springs, retainers....Ive reamed the ridges in the cylinders. I still need to chase all the threads, replace the plugs, etc.

That bell housing isn't going to work with that engine or that transmission.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
