I have had my dart for over 8yrs and ran many 6.30 passes with the current cage. The guy I bought the car from built it and told me everything was done correct. Well I could tell the way he ran some bars it would never pass tech but I thought it was good enough for running the times I was running. One spot he did not weld all the way around was thick tubing so I assumed it all was and did not ever drill in it. I did add some tabs and those places were thick wall. But I bought a new motor that is going to be way faster. So when I started cutting all the bars out for the new cage about 30% of the bars were thin wall almost like exhaust tubing.

What do you consider "thin"? What does it measure? What is the material? How was it welded? Please don't take this the wrong way but, how are you sure you are doing the cage the correct way? Using the correct materials, wall size, diameter, and welding techniques? You may have a good issue but, be more specific and throw-in some pics.

I have already hauled it all to the local scrap yard. It was no thicker than some exhaust pipe I had laying around the shop and in cutt out like butter. I am sending the car to a pro shop for a 12pt moly cage. the part that was not weleded was the top side of the cage in the car I guess they could not get the welder in there.

roll bar tube is easy enough to check. just find somebody with a sonic tester.

I guess he didn't know the trick on welding the top of the cage before installing it tight to the roof
