If the fans were running while you are on the highway they can actually block the air flow.

I ran that experiment several years ago. While cruising the highways around Dallas on a hot summer day I would cycle the fans on and off. The temp went up with the fans on at 65 mph.

I have a fan setup off of a Dodge intrepid, similar to the contour setup and it works well.

Any pics? I know keeping the parts all Mopar appeals to some folks and might like to use that instead of the Contour fan.

The Contour Fans are made by Bosch (at least originally) anyway and there aren't any visible Ford logos. The "All Mopar" thing is a joke when the same suppliers basically designed made all the parts anyway. shruggy

The ford fans are the best first because the V6 Contour is a ridiculous application for fans (just look under the hood), they are common, they make new parts to service everything, and the dual speed feature is amazing. You pretty much won't find the dual speed feature on anybody else's cars.

Does the plastic shroud acually come in contact with the radiator? I put aluminum strips behind it and it still lays on the radiator. The fans dont rub the radiator, the shroud is the only thing in contact with the radiator. Will the plastic be ok?

I hear ya. For me if its an upgrade that makes sense and lets me drive more, I really don't care what it came on originally. But some guys do so they may like the idea of the one from the Intrepid better.

Shatar4: my shroud makes contact against the rad fins. The fans don't rub or hit at all. the plastic should be fine. Seems to be made of the automotive plastics that hold up just fine to hot temps. No issues for me while it was running. The aftermarket fans that were replaced by the contour fans were mounted the same and no issues with the heat either.

There is a guy in my area that has an Intrepid fan system for sale and I will try to pick it up on Sunday.
