Any leads on a good quality fiberglass cowl hood for a 1964 Fury? I need more clearance but don't want a two piece hood/ scoop. I'm open to suggestions on other designs if you know of any. Thanks guys!

Call Glasstek up by Chicago. It may not be listed on there web page, but they will make anything and it will be the nicest fiberglass piece you have ever seen as far as hoods go. Stock mounting available as well

Ha, sheesh I dislike GM hoods on Mopars and really dislike those 10" cowls but, not my car or my bills so, do as you please but, be ready for the ridicule as well

My buddies keep telling me I am stuck in the 60's because I dont like cowl hoods on Mopars but thats just me. I love the old SS look and I like factory original style scoops myself. But as you said Big it is his car and he has the right to do whatever he wants with his own car and I can respect that. My brother and my buddy both run the Areo scoop on their 68 Cuda's and I try my hardest to get them to run the 68 SS Hemi scoop. Ron

Ahhh I was expecting the digs, lol. Trust me, I don't WANT to put a chevelle hood on my baby (and frankly, with the length of my hood, it will look like someone put an upside down jon boat on it!!), but I can't seem to find a one piece glass hood/ scoop of any other design. That's why I stated in my first post that I am open, VERY open in fact, to other designs if you know of one! Bigdad, I like your scoop alot, but it isn't tall enough for me. What I would REALLY like is the max wedge scoop, but I don't think it would tall enough either. Not sure how the SS Hemi scoop would look on my car. Ugh! you see my dilemma? LOL

How tall do you need? I'm sure you could get a taller S/S style scoop built. I too love the classic design of the early B's and would run slower before putting a cow hood on there.

Mine is tight , I use a dropped base air cleaner and had to remove the carb spacer to make it fit under the scoop , there is about 3/4 of a inch clearance left to work with , I have to remake throttle linkage to make it go WOT too, one of those things I have to engineer when I make time

That's not being "stuck" in anything. People can do what they want to their own car, including not caving to this hideous "in" look.

I have seen the 64-65 Hemi scoop like Bigdad's and the Max Wedge scoops that are taller then the originals as I see alot of NSS cars running them. They look to be at least 4 to 5 inches tall to me if that would work for you. I will try to find a pic of one. By the way I really like your sweet 64. Ron

Thanks Ron! I love your car, too! That red just pops and is beautiful.

Is your scoop choice going to be for mostly cosmectic or performance ? ... how fast is the car ? ... do you know where the "good air" is on the car?

Glasstek ? .. they can make some decent stuff. But them and VFN ? ...you could make a prime-time soap-opera out of that !

LOL, not cosmetic AT ALL... if it was, I sure wouldn't have been thinking of a cowl hood! I just need more clearance than the factory hood provides and was looking for a one piece hood that can provide it.

Well ...depending where the good-air is on your car .. the cowl scoop might work the best. What is your engine combo and speed of the car?
