Hello everyone, I have a question I was hoping someone could help me with
This spring I was looking to swap my quad setup for a single round. I've got the buckets already but am having trouble with the grill bezel. I've seen a bunch on the bay but am unaware of what years interchange. Can anyone offer insight?
Thanks in advance

I imagine 79 and 80 only. And isn't the grille one piece with the headlight surrounds?

There have been a few threads on this subject over the past couple years. I can't find the specific thread I wanted but here are a couple others. Hope it helps...

The quad headlight setup had bezels that were bolt on, the single round headlight grill for 79 the bezels were part of the grill and did not come apart, molded in with grill all one piece

On a side note an immaculate quad core support is worth it's weight in gold. twocents

Why would you want to go to a less effective headlight system? Quad lights are better for night driving.

Thanks for the replies guys. I feel a single round headlight not only looks cleaner but lends itself more to the overall rounded lines (stepside)of the truck. Then, of course in doing the swap LED's will replace the sealed beams so visibility shouldn't be a problem.
I could've sworn the truck at the junkyard I pulled the buckets from had the same 79 grill as me, just someone had already gotten the bezels. I guess I'm just asking because I want to know whether or not some of the nice pieces on eBay can be a go for the swap before ordering a pair.

Your for sale ad belongs in the parts for sale forum. Not here!

And I was happy to switch mine to squares! LOL! I think I threw all the parts for the round lights away, as there was NO market for it.

I installed an NOS round headlight grill with a pair of new hella headlights a few years ago in my 79 powerwagon, that new grill really makes the truck look great and gets lots of compliments, I am also in the minority that thinks the round headlights look better on those trucks. There is an NOS grill on ebay right now.

You can pull off the swap 78/79 single grilles are one piece and hard to come by in good condition...very hard. Now you can still find military surplus 1976 3 piece grilles in new condition but they do not come with bezels when sold gotta hunt those, this is the route I went down after failing to find a good 78/79 while not loosing my first born child. The spread width is a bit different between 78/79 and 76 as is the depth but all said you will modify your support/buckets for either route so 6 of one half dozen thing there its the issue of finding a grille you can live with. PM me if you go the 78/79 route I have 4 of the round headlight grilles with dif levels of issues. None I choose to use but one would be good for a driver I think, or if you need a beat up one to mock up with while on the hunt for a nos 78/79. You can have one free I have no need for them really (not a for sale ad at all here) You can look up "76 grille swap help please" and see the steps it took to mount 76 on 79 with rounds and how military grilles clean up.

I really like the round lights over the square , much harder to find though for 78/79 watch out for used being sold as nos on the bay several years of hunting this is what I ended up with....all to end up modifying for a 76..like the results though

Been a while and I hope everybody is doing well.
Bringing this one back to life in order to ask if anyone knows where I can find the buckets for single round headlights?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, plenty of brand new Chevy replacement buckets.
But nothing for a dodge.
Although, looking at the 6" buckets advertised for Chevy makes me wonder about whether or not I can fab those to work? work
Anybody know of any year interchangeability?

I didn't look but www.vansauto.com is a good source for stuff so maybe there if not the ones on Feebay, and also www.Arizonaparts.com or www.LMCtruck.com

Facts are stubborn things.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I swear I typed in those exact words on Google and got nothing.
I was looking at some of the buckets from other models and years and it sure looks like ma used the same buckets and retaining rings on other models.
Can anyone confirm?

If you are after function rather then original, you might want to look at the plastic head light mounting brackets for newer CJ Jeeps They are held onto the metal behind them with 4 screws. and have the headlight adjustment included all in one piece. They hold the 7" round lights.
