Need to pick up some fuel for Dyno testing. What would be a good fuel for 410 SB with 13.3:1 compression run in the 7000rpm range. I'm interested in the VP c12, but not sure this would be a good choice.

I would buy a five gallon bucket each of C10 and C12 and see which one makes the most torque and HP up Are you planning on optimizing the jetting? I've been told by some very serious and successful drag racers to use the lowest possible octane that the motor will run on without detonation or pre ignition up More heat (BTU) per gallon in the lower octane according to them work Keep in mind that the spark plug heat range, total ignition timing, compression ratio and jetting all need to be at there very best, optimized, to up to get the best results thumbs scopeGood luck, let us know your results.

The VP 112 is what I ran in that 13.3 ish to 1 W5 motor. 7500 at the stripe most passes, never any issue.

I buy aviation (avgas) under the table from a guy that has planes in 44 gal drums, about 25% of the price of race fuels.

didn't think about that. intake opens at 31.5 and closes at 55.5.

yeah, but that's 100LL. don't think that's enough octane.

If my memory is half way correct, its been a long time since I have bought VP race gas, I think C10 ia 110 octane and C12 is 112 octane. Both have a different burn rate so they may be close to each other with the same jetting and timing, the final tuning on the dyno will tell you which is best for your motor thumbs IHTHs

vp110 is called vp110 and is 110 octane(107 motor octane). c10 is unleaded and 96 motor octane. c12 is 112 octane(108 motor octane) and im told my engine with run cooler on the c12. vp110 is good to 13:1 compression and the c12 is good to 15:1.

Once you get it on the dyno, do a compression
check... this will give you a good idea what
fuel

Latest Hot Rod has a real good article ( VP question and answer forum)on this. Believe C12 is their biggest seller. Article might help guide you in the right direction. Pretty complicated subject involve many facets. A lot of different ways to get the octane #. The question is which one is right for you. What sticks in my mind most after reading it is the inconsistency of pump gas. beer

We tested many fuels at Pettis from stockers to blown and nos stuff and for what you and others are doing in that comp. range the 112 was better overall. I put ZERO stock in cranking this and that and low comp. stockers ran better and that fuel has some excellent properties that go beyond just the octane numbers.......

been reading some reviews on c12 compared to other brands and c12 keeps coming up on top. the shell 110 advantage URT was some bad ass fuel, but from what i understand isn't available anymore.

At the track we changed from Avgas 100 to VP110 and the car (12.5-1 RB) ran identical numbers so we stayed with the cheaper .

I ran AV gas when I was 13-1, so I know it works well. But if you would prefer to buy the expensive VP stuff to feel better about it, enjoy!
